Missed some forward passes of which one resulted in a Leeds try, in fairness it must be hard for a ref to keep up with Young Athletes at their prime going flat out and whilst trying to keep up keep looking sideways !
When Littler and Bailey started slogging it out (I thought Bailey got a little dig in before it kicked off but so what - thats what RL is lacking at times , that gets the crowd pumped up and the atmosphere rockets !) I'd have thought that try should have stood as it had zero effect on the score or the attack or defence of either team.
So a couple of errors , maybe a few more ?
I'd take that as virtually everyone else on the pitch made a few errors.
He could have blown up for a host of daft penalities but choose to keep the game moving, it actually felt like a RL game I was watching rather than some of the stop / start penalty sessions you sometimes see.

He gave a penalty to Leeds for that incident, so anything that happened after the biff was irrelevant.

Must admit he annoyed me a couple of times but so did the lines men and I reckon if that incident had been in SL the try would have stood and the players put on report ,why let the game carry on if you are just going to deny the try, he should have stopped play right away .Keeping that try would have given the game a more balanced feel to it ,which it most certainly deserved IMO .

He let the game go because he didn't see it, he was following play. It happened under the In Goal TJ's nose, he reported it to the ref; no try penalty to Leeds. Simples.

Still should not have denied the try but put them on report ,isn't that what they do now in SL ,everything goes on report

It only goes on report if the severity of the offence is in doubt, it is still a penalty. In this case there was no doubt what it was so nothing to report.

After the RFL panel viewed the incident, Littler was cited to the Disciplinary, but not Bailey. That probably suggests where the match officials felt the blame lay.

By the way, no charge has been brought as the Disciplinary body felt the DVD was 'inconclusive'. That's the benefit of the game being classed as a SL one!

Agree with your comments about the game and ref Alan. We were never going to beat them on a perfect night and perfect pitch and with Rob Burrow playing. Leeds were a very different team to the previous week with Burrow on the pitch. A major point is that they were able to bring on two monsters from the bench. Watching Saints on Saturday I think we could have given them a very close game and least said about the Broncos the better!!

Doesn't matter if it impeded play or not, Littler committed foul play before the ball was grounded. Once reported to the ref he had no option but to disallow the try and award Leeds a penalty.

Oh Lord you Leythers make me chuckle! Completely, utterly clueless.

Regarding the game, the pass in the first half was forward but Leigh could have been pinged 25 times for infringements at marker, jesus if that was a SL game you'd not have touched the ball from being penalised so much. Thaler was VERY lenient with yourselves but, it made for a better spectacle. Overall he's not the best official but on friday, you didn't get a raw deal. I genuinely think many of Leigh's speccies are still stuck in the 70's and still shout for calls like 'crossing' or 'feeding'.

Sorry to drift away from the thread title here. However, glad you opted to pay to watch Leigh Centurions in the CC again. Do you reckon you got value for money or do you believe you should have been charged one pound coin less perhaps?

Despite the result which did not reflect true events in the game imho, (i've seen bigger one sided wire games end only 38-16 or something) I thought it was an enjoyable evening and one with which you could build on for the future. The beer needs to be cheaper, like, seriously.. i spent the rest of the weekend in perpignan and I felt I got better value for money there!!

We have no control over the prices but as an aside to that, the Leeds fans were mentioning how [icheap[/i the beer was!

It's not the price per se but in other places you get a pint, there you got a smaller bottle for expensive pint prices.
