Maybe so, but I don't see how the already limited resources would stretch to properly monitoring such a scheme as obviously we'd need someone to operate for further applications during the year, organising members events etc etc.

Certainly, but if this is to be a 'Stronghold' style scheme then you need a strong leadership for it or people simply won't be interested.

If the club is not going to be run as some kind of boys club as has always been the case in the past then i would suggest the club will have a very strong,honest and open leadership.

if the club needs money to pay debts that fall due now then it is a great way of getting money in

yes 100 quid ST is 80 after tax - you cold stic it in a 'high' interest account (as far as im aware you pay vat at the end of the tax year) and you'll get a bit more in interest

at those levels you may also get more than 800 st holders

Starbug - surely the plan isnt to run at salary cap level next year - the aim, if things are as bad as has been said, is to get us to start the year then get a team together that we cann afford

also Starbug you have implied that the lease is the noose around the club's neck - it needs to be renegotiated, if not then maybe admin/liquid is the only option. i commend the work that the directors have done and the money that they have put in but if it was their personal business i'd be surprised if they would have agreed to move to premises before noing the costs - which is supposedly what happended here. yes i've seen many instance of businessmen 'losing' their business accumen when it comes to running a club.

2 massive errors from the directors of the club:

1. signing up to the stadium when they were in an extreme negotiating position
2. not investing AT money into making the club sustainable or having a plan b for when AT couldnt put money in

Not the time to be pointing out previous mistakes (with the benefit of hindsight) that we can't change and instead concentrate on what can be done to see us through the immediate term before we can look at the long term picture.

I haven't suggested we will run at the max salary cap next year , I have suggested a level that the club would have to achieve to run at max salary cap without ' donations '

As I see it Wigan MBC (as it was then) made staying at HP impossible doing it by various methods like reducing the safety certificate to less than 1000, isolating it physically by putting a fence up like they have now I apologise if this isn't how it went but I remember something being said along these lines at a LISA meeting some years ago and old age is catching up with my memory .
As AT was by all understandings the one who was writing the cheques did the directors have a say in where the money went?

I also seem to get the impression that planning permission is more forthcoming for the East site than what Miller(?) Homes faced with the HP site. But that's all another topic for another day IMHO.
