kcab sfrawdder Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg

" Time is but a flowing stream". Pedro. Higherfold Cockey Pond. 1973. You can shout for silence, but boots worn all day will always hum.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_28343.gif

Quote: THECherry&Whites "The Unions crippled our country in the 70's. They drove global companies out of our country who wouldn't be held to ransom by the unions. It took a lot of hard work by Lady Thatcher to entice brands like Toyota, Nissan and Honda to invest in our country. I hope the current coalition come down hard on any civil unrest caused by the trouble making unions this winter. I would certainly encourage the deployment of troops on the streets with live weapons to restore any unrest. Zero tolerance on these communist types would certainly stop anything getting out of hand and destroying our image as a welcoming, flexible country to do business in.
Sorry but haven't two of those closed or reduced their opperations here now. Is that down to the unions. I hope you have all your retirement money in pensions that are being plundered by the government. See you in the soup kitchen icon_thumb.gif

All three are still in production. Nissan Sunderland is expanding and both Derby and Swindon have returned to near normal production following the recession (although Honda Swindon still has supply problems from Japan due to the effects of the Sunami).

The plundering of the pensions was caused by the Labour government and Chancellor Brown. You can't put that one on the coalition.

Quote: mapleyther "While we are having personal off-topic rants - I am not a union member and I think all trade unions should be abolished - they serve no useful purpose whatsoever in a modern society as far as I can see.
Well said.

They have served their purpose and are now outdated. Why should a mass strike dictate wages and pensions, yet the little guy working for a small company that is struggling to keep going can only seek employment elsewhere or lump it and stay. Also well done Ed Milliband today - finally grown some.
My opinion as a working class person icon_smile.gif

Instead of giving billions of pounds to banks that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 10 million people over 50 in the work force.

Pay them £1 million each severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire.
Ten million job openings - unemployment fixed

2) They MUST buy a new British car.
Ten million cars ordered - Car Industry fixed

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage -
Housing Crisis fixed

4) They MUST send their kids toschool/college/university -
Crime rate fixed

5) They MUST buy £100 WORTH of alcohol/tobacco a week .....
And there's your money back in duty/tax etc

It can't get any easier than that!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members of parliament pay back their falsely claimed expenses and second home allowances

If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know

Avoiding all the political posturing from Cherry&Shite, can anyone explain to me how, when our population is expanding, having fewer members of parliament is a good thing for democracy?

All I can see is cost cutting and screw the population. If it's such a good idea, lets just cut back to one MP for the whole country and save a fortune by not having elections either. Who'd have thought the Electoral Commission would support the old Communist Russian way of doing things?

FTR, that's not serious, it's meant as a counterbalance to Cherry&Shites 'politburo' remark, which if nowt else shows how little he knows about either political history or the state of the 2011 Labour party.

'if' we need more money? Where does this £1.1 trillion pounds come from?

Lot of 0/0 being spoken on this subject. Does it matter in the long term? Boundary changes are a way of life for each incoming government for their own ends. Let's get back to rugby on this forum and worry about what is happening to our beloved team. Much more important than boundary changes - let's be honest - whatever changes are made to the boundaries, you can put a pig up as a labour candidate in Leigh and it would still get elected.

And yet when I look at the current condition of the economy, is that down to the Unions, the average working man... No its down to greedy get rich Thatcherites, no the ordinary average working man... Don't try and blame the unions for something they didn't control, its the bankers, no one else... Try to remember that when your down the soup kitchen spouting the virtues of Thatcher, ultimately it was her values and believes that put you there.. Oh and I'm not in a Union, but try to remember they are elected to look after their members, even Thatcher couldn't ulimately break them, all she could do was destroy the industries they worked in.

No. I get a Labour MP anyway. Why would I vote? eusa_wall.gif

Why don't we use the Northern Ireland system where they have six MLAs each? Everyone's a winner !! eusa_clap.gif

Except when it comes to claiming expenses, obviously. icon_biggrin.gifOH:

If you can't play nicely it's locked. This is a rugby league forum there are other places for political arguments go and spout the rubbish on those, especially if people are reverting to name calling like kids over a toffee.
