Its a real yawn this debate......its not as if the club is called Centurions instead of Leigh. We are called Leigh Centurions - the centurions bit being something I didn't like at the start but I am used to it now. No point changing it it just for change sake. To some we are Leigh Rugby club still, and you can chant the name Leigh as we always did, because believe it or not you don't have to try to chant/sing Cen-tur-ions (
). To others we maybe Centurions, or Leigh Centurions, or whatever.
Changing the name back to owden days won't change anything - we just have something less to use for marketing purposes (if we did market the club). There's nowt wrong with pushing the "Leigh RL" and "Centurions" to give flexibility when targeting new/old fans.
I prefer to look forward not backwards all the time. Same with cherry and white hoops - it gives little scope for selling more merchandise, and the town crest is just that (its not the clubs own identity which having our own badge represents).
