I didn't hear the announcement, but I'd say that this signing is more than just good news.

Our set of young, improving forwards smashed theirs all over the park today in offence and defence. We really made their pack look pathetic and it's great to think that we'll have the stability going forward to improve that solid platform into the best pack outside SL.

I think it was important . however, what is important and relevant, is there will be a clause, no doubt that, if a SL club comes in for Chris, he can go and if he does ....I wish him all the best as he deserves it.

Chris is easily our most consistent player. There can't be a Leyther who does not know and appreciate him and that.

In terms of media bonus ponts Robbies signature was worth tens times more than Chris's that's why it had the hype.

In terms of long term planning, Chris Hill's signature is 10 times more valuable than Robbie's, who's career is winding down.

To be honest I don't think anyone is saying the re-signing was not important. I think its the announcement that there would be an announcement bit that was just a bit confusing after the announcement was made. Would have been better to just do the normal thing of announcing it like other clubs (for players that have exteded their contract) do before the game so the lad could have received even more adulation from the fans when entering the pitch. Simples.

I think the news was important and I'm glad it was handled like it was. I agree with aparky in that Chris's signature is more valuable than Robbies and I think the fact that he has re-signed shows loyalty and commitment to Leigh when we all know that Super League clubs have been banging on the door for his signature.

Ian Millward said in his speech about Chris that he thought he was a future international player and I for one am very grateful to him for sticking with Leigh.

The club are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

TBF the clubs that were after him were Widnes, Salford and Crusaders. They were all offering one year deals so it was a no brainer for him. He has a SL clause in his new contract should a bigger club ever come in for him.
