Quote: mr. chairman "just read the menu and the cuts they give can feed two people maybe he took that option , the menu ranges from £15-£75 , £50 is ok for two'"

Can highly recommend this place been a couple of times can be pricey but not over the top, well worth it, you'll have a good night.

It certainly is Mr C. I have had first class food there and it was at lunch when they had a special on.

Gaucho Grill in Manchester is the best steakhouse I've ever been to - but with a price tag to match!

Went to Rowlands with Mrs Whoateallthetries last night and our first impressions were good. Very tastefully decorated and clean. Only 1 table eating when we got there but got pretty busy a bit later on. The light is a bit bright though - they could do with a dimmer switch to create a bit more "atmosphere". Also, a bit cold in there.

Starters were excellent and the steaks were good - nothing you couldn't rustle up yourself at home though to be honest and the chips were a bit too greasy for our liking. 1 piece of advice though - the chef seems to overcook the meat slightly so if you want yours done medium then ask for medium rare - if you want medium rare ask for rare. We asked for medium and both steaks came at least medium-well done. We didn't make a fuss of it but I overheard people on 2 of the other tables complaining about the same thing. Desserts and coffees were nice though.

However, the biggest let-down has to be the price. We spent £40 a head which was too much in my opinion. The drinks prices are definitely too high. I don't mind paying £3 for a bottle of lager as that seems to be par for the course in a restaurant these days but £15 for a bottle of Jacobs Creek Shiraz that I can pick up for £5 to £6 in Tescos?! I don't mind paying £15+ for a bottle of wine but it has to be something a bit more special for that price (especially when you think that when you buy in bulk at wholesale I bet you could get Jacobs Creek for about £3 to £4 a bottle).

Overall, it was good but nowt special. At £40 per head I would expect a bit more of a restaurant "experience" with a fantastic atmosphere and service to match. A welcome addition to the limited number of restaurants in Leigh though (which isn't difficult).

Sounds like its worth a visit, though I'm not sure I'll be paying £15 for a bottle of £4 plonk.

Cost us way more than that!

My mate and his missus went last month and paid almost 3 times that much.

Has it got dearer recently or did they get your bill wrong?!? It was right. We had a voucher for £70 and we have £20 left. But as said, highly recommended.

I did a mini study of pubs around us that have not gone to the dogs and the things they all had in common were (a) a decent selection of beers and wines (b) a warm covered place for the (very hard done to) smoking people (c) food. I would have to say that the warm dry place where people could have a fag is probably the most important feature. If you dont move with the times your going to be left behind.
