Don't think it was a matter of them not trying, more a fact that they were knackered at defending consecutive sets of six - once the Widnes forwards got on top then understandably Gateshead struggled to make decent use of the ball, and credit to the Smogs for doing that. |

Smith appears to be on borrowed time, he was awful from kick off yesterday and was rightly removed. He perked up greatly in the second half when he came back on.
Perhaps this year will be the last we see of Mark, i hope not as he's still a class act but he needs to pull his finger out.
