Get LEIGH outta wigan: |
|
| Quote: TV BOY "Karl Harrison is the wrong man for us. John Pendleburys name has been mentioned. Excellent rugby brain and work ethic not sure how long he has been away from the game to take us forward. I have a funny feeling that our arch nemesis from swinton may throw his cap in for the job and we could do worse. I would also like to thank Ian Milward for all his hard work and the way the team has grown but I hope he flops at Cas. I also hope that they give us a friendly around christmas and we do them.'"
Dont want him to flop mate and iv'e no interest in a friendly with cas what so ever.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| We still have a head coach at the moment , until he's left , no point even thinking about who gets the job next

| Reading your potential circumstances yet also having already ticked a box John Stankevitch would be a great choice. Be good value and would relish a shot at a big club like Leigh. Very good at working under a tight budget and getting players to play for him. Whilst his record as a coach with juniors and then young players at Rochdale is fantastic.
With SL box already ticked he could easily bring on your young lads if the pot is short for players! And then (as with Widnes) you'd still be in a good position for a licence bid.

| what you say J20 is correct however at Leigh the coach needs to be a person who the fans take to quickly i dunno if Stanky would be that poular meening he was up against it straight away i personally think an unknown Aussie who brings no baggage and starts from scratch and is wot we need or a popular ex player

Love him or hate him, 163 consecutive appearances should make Stuart Littler a Salford legend in anyone's book :Others/NA.JPG |

| Quote: JENKY "Heard Shaun McRae on GMR tonight saying he thought Leigh would attract a lot of applicants.
He thought it would be a good job for a SL assistant coach making the next step up the coaching ladder.'"
Maybe hinting at the fact that his old SL assistant at Salford (Phil Veivers) could be in the running?
You could certainly do a lot worse ...... was a real contender for the Head coach job at Salford earlier this year and we arguably played our best and most consistently football under Veivers after McRae left/before Parish started.
The other possibility from Salford, as I've already mentioned elsewhere, is our other assistant coach; Mal Alker?
Or maybe even our Academy Coach, Alan Hunte, who has done an excellent job with our youngsters??

Too expensive , next coach will be a local part time appointment , much like the playing staff

| Phil Veivers is a good coach, he was an assistant at Leigh for ohh about 5 hours as was Pengy (for a little longer) , there are a couple of coaches one a current Championship coach the other a Ch 1 coach who have made tentative enquiries through various means, so McRae may be right there are enough idiots - sorry coaches about who see us as a good job

| Have always wondered if a (full time) coach at a SL club could also carry a role as head coach in a lower league? (ok maybe Leigh a bit big) but in terms of day to day training would it be any different to those coaches employed in a full time job outside of RL? Plus not all SL coaching staff will be required on game day in case of any clashes.

| Lots of preparation required these days video work alone is about 12 - 15 hrs which at Championship level most head coaches do their own, at SL level they either have a consultant or an assistant doing it. Training drills are mostly repetition with the odd tweak to suit the team you play next, I would think weights and fitness etc would be a set programme. So perhaps an assistant coach at a SL club may have the time but the head honcho no. But the amount of other 'duties' a head coach at a Championship club now does makes it difficult for it to be a part time job one would think.

Not as daft as it sounds - wasn't Barrie Mac on the coaching staff at Leeds while playing for Widnes?
OK - we'll have Basil and Tony Smith on a jobshare!!
