If we cross that line then you won't see me for dust. But it hasn't happened, and I can see no reason why it would.

A lot of people saw no reason why the club would form a partnership with Wigan.
The general feeling seems to be that most fans will stick with it but for some a line has already been crossed. The club has got to be careful.

| I have just listened to Trevor Bartons broadcast, he talks about the ambition of the club and players etc. He then goes on about the community and he cant understand why there has been so much uproar with the announcement of Leigh partnering with Wigan.
I am sorry but that strikes me of somebody who dose not have a clue about his shareholders and customers. To a lot of fans this is a further step in Leigh Centurions losing more of its identity.
I think this is the worst thing the club could do. Its going to pay a hefty price for Trevor and his wonderful vision of WMBC. I hope he realises quite a number of fans are walking away from the club. So the financial problems are only going to get worse.
Lets be realistic the plain and simple fact is we are not going to get into super league because we cant meet two key criterias, Finaces and attendences.
I have listened to the broadcast three times and still cant understand why we have partnered with Wigan. Everything TB said the club can and is doing on its own, I can't see why we need Wigan? I would love somebody to explain it to me.
It just makes me suspect there is something more to this and like I have said in my recent post I feel this is part of the plan to amalgamate Leigh into Wigan RLFC.
Like others on here I have decided to withdraw my support because I dont like or believe in what the club is doing or the direction its going in.
I am sorry its come to this but like a lot of others I work hard for my money and I am not spending it on a club who dosent give a toss about its supporters and expects them to take whatever the board throws at them.

| Quote: glow "Blunders can be rectified, (if there has been a blunder?) the problem I have is, I have yet to see anyone who can help me to understand ‘Why we need this Partnership?’ What the benefits of this Partnership are to my club?
This is my take on the key points…..
Do I understand that Leigh need to bolster the squad by loaning players? YES, we always have.
Am I happy if those players came from Wigan? YES I don’t care were they come from.
Do I think Rowley will pick the team? YES but he can only choose from those Wigan make available.
Do I think Wigan will send us different players? YES why wouldn’t they want all their squad have the opportunity to play at the highest level possible?
Do I like the idea of potentially having a different Wigan player in our team every week? NO
What happens if Rowley refuses to play the player offered? I’d guess at best he’d have to pick one of our own. At worst Wigan would keep sending the player they want us to play until we either play him or makes the agreement worthless.
Do I think if say Charnley breaks his leg and then needs to get fit, he’ll get sent to Leigh? YES were else could he go, South Wales?
Do I know what Rowley and even more importantly Wane considers established SL players are? NO
Do I think this is better than Swinton? Not really. Any 4 from 20 is not much different from any 4 from 30.
Do I think we should be helping junior development? YES but by supporting the people in the best place to do it, the local Amateur clubs and that’s why I was part of Leigh Community RL Development Group. Aim was to try and help improve the clubs, by looking at Coach Education Programmes, Player to club links, Health improvement programmes, Joint fundraising events, Junior Centurions, discounted/cashback tickets, Promotion of the local club to schools, and promotion of the female game.
Do I think Leigh could help junior development without Wigan? Yes but it needs a very good pro-active Community team.
Do we have a pro-active Community team? I don’t know if we even have a Community team, what I do know is the award winning one we had is still active in our community.
Do I think this Partnership will put bums on seats? NO, but I think working in our community with our amateur clubs and schools might do.
Do I know enough about the player pathway to see the improvement this partnership offers? No but I can’t see if a Player gets kicked out at Wigan why this will mean he would automatically come to Leigh. If he has ambition to be Pro then why would he not go to say Salford or Widnes. Or are we now taking hostages?
I am told we currently have a good U20’s which includes 2 or 3 from Wigan, I assume that means all the others are from Leigh, so after Wigan’s been and cherry picked the best (which they will still do) for some strange reason unbeknown to man the others, somehow miraculously found the pathway to us?
I was told when I used Chris Hill as an example of our development that he was the exception, well that maybe so, but the fact he still sits in the stands watching us play says someone looked after him, someone put their arm around him when he didn’t want to go were Wigan said he had to. We showed we cared, we watched him grow and when the time was right we waved him off.
If we care so much about junior development and also want to save cash, why did we sign Penky when we have Nicholson? (I rate both players, its not about players)
So for me we need a few players on loan (Rowleys choice), do whatever it takes to make up with the Community trust (I’ve no idea who was and wasn’t at fault - and I don’t care, if we can make friends with Wigan then……….), build a relationship with but leave player development to the experts the Amateur clubs, even the players at Wigan started there..
Alternatively someone please tell me Why we need this Partnership?'"
Pretty much sums up my thoughts (and concerns).

Charlie, on other threads you say you will never stop supporting the club yet you have just agreed with this, " if the pies start telling us which players to play or interfere in any way on the playing side im off." Have you changed your mind?

| Why?
This is the main question. We do not need Wigin players. We can not get promoted, so why would this help?
Some Leythers are very anti-wigoon. I remember watching the Wigoon v Bath dual code games way back, and one mate actually supported Bath. Onion v League, and he chose Onion! This is why this is a bad idea, it may result in 20% jacking it in, when we need 40% more through the gates.
I know there are some City fans on here. Imagine when City were cack........League 1 as it is now, on the edge of going bust, in the end saved by a Paul Dickov goal in the play off final 1999 v Gillingham on 94:10. Them lot down the road who fluked a win(again!) v Bayern a few days before to win the CL......imagine if it was allowed and City became a feeder club for the rags......The City fans stuck by City through all this sheeite, even became more determined not to be defeated, as the crowds that season show. If, even due to going bust, and a 'partnership' had been announced there would have been riots! Real riots, not a bit of a grump on a messageboard.
And look what has happened now. OK, City won the lottery, but maybe something great may happen to Leigh one day........but this slippery slope means that is further and further away than ever.

| I have been thinking about this partnership since it was announced.
I honestly think it will not harm us provided fans give it a chance.
It is clear to me however that from a lot of posts on here and conversations I have had with other Leythers who I know personally that unless we withdraw from this agreement our club will not survive as an Independent club.
The present Board will have to decide how to proceed sooner rather than later.
Pride goes before a fall. Lets scrap the partnership and rely on our squad players ?
Thing is if that happens and the fans who have stopped attending don't come back soon we face the end anyways.
It's a tough call because if we get it wrong I think we all know the outcome.
It is a real shame especially given that we currently have one of the best squads in the Championship.

| I suppose only time will tell & in the mean time all we can hope for is the fans to give our club a chance but I fear the damage has been done.

| It's why do we need this .
No one at all, has answered this?
I don't understand why wigan can't just loan us a few players seeing they have loads of under 23s in their first team squad. Make Tom,s a season long loan, he's supposingly 9th chioce prop there, so be fair to him and give him some respect.
All the other stuff can still be done it doesn't need any official partnership to work together in the junior development.
Although east and miners are and also have done a good job there.
I m nit going stop going unless the likes of Richards or o loughlin play .
I think we just have a good team already and will this not just p off a few of our players as well as the fans. I'd hate for this to spoil our season.

| Could it be a crafty marketing ploy and there will shortly be an announcement along the lines of, " We have had second thoughts about this link up and, taking on board the negative feedback from fans of long standing, we have decided to scrap the idea. We would now ask fans to put this period of unrest behind them and turn up at LSV in numbers to support our U Turn."

| The Watcher wonders if these link ups between SL & NL clubs is something that has been encouraged by the RFL & therefore if clubs shun the idea, may fear they will become victims of dicrimination by the RFL. So to keep in the bosses good books our board has done as it(& other NL clubs) was told to do.
