Let's not make excuses. Dews managed the ref better than we did. Merrick has reffed at this level for a long time for a reason. He struggles with keeping up with the game when a higher standard of team plays. Just look at the number of flat passes he gave has forward today. The guy was guessing most of the time. The RFL really need to expose more referees to Super League to increase the experience of refs below the 6 full time picks.

The worse Ref performance I have ever seen couldn't keep up with play and had too ask he's touch judge what the crack was for every call! I thought we did well today I didn't realise just how small that place is we were never going too score loads! Take the 50/50 calls for the try's and it's a comfatable win I don't know what more some fans want!! 2 points in that bag and tough hard game again! Thought beswick and acton were outstanding today!!

Hate the place and didn't bother going, take the two and hope no injuries or suspensions from it

Was always going to be a huge test and every credit has to be given to Dewsbury for making it so tough, especially down the middle. I think at a ground like that we sometimes worry too much about the lack of space out wide and take our eye off the ball down the middle. They more than matched us in the forwards and certainly played things a lot smarter at times. Yes the referee didn't cover himself in glory (the 'forward' pass towards the end was a joke) but we made it too easy for him to give penalties, and he's not the one missing tackles down the middle. Very much a relief to get the two points.

Thankfully we are celebrating another win, anyway, but we defended as poorly as I've seen from us all season. We didn't cope well with Dewsbury's big pack and sprightly attacking play, especially down the middle. We looked almost tired at times defensively.

Credit to Dewsbury, they played to their strengths and capitalised when we made errors.

Fortunately, though, our attack was still more than good enough, lead by the impressive Kay, and we should have scored more.

I found the ground to be quite tidy and pleasant. Dewsbury fans were "passionate" (we stood in amongst them for first 20 minutes by mistake!) and being close to the pitch they "make their presence known" but I didn't feel intimidated or particularly unwelcome.

I really enjoyed the match and atmosphere.

Good luck to them, but I'm not so sure they've got the squad to finish in top 4 this season.

I've always liked Dewsbury's ground (apart from when they used to lump that great big gantry in the middle of the South Stand for TV games) and the new terrace and scoreboard help that no end. Will be even better if they put terracing at the other end as seems likely.

Wasn't it Merrick who ref.d last years Workington v Leigh game and disallowed several Leigh trys for forward passes ??

Good to grind out a tough away win - never an easy place to go. Not every game will be champagne and caviar! TWENTY-THREE wins in a row takes some doing - well done lads!

Seemed to me our first try was a forward pass to Kay. On the other hand the ref disallowed two others which were obviously good tries and infact the last one he called forward was mindblowing.

Apart from the ref however it seemed some of our players had no studs on their boots.

Dewsbury did well but a win is a win and glad that performance is out of our system.

As has been said a wins a win , not our best performance by a long way ,but again the last 2 disallowed tries for me were nowt wrong with them, again Emmitt had a blinder,Ryan passing game gets quicker and better every week,I heard a few Leythers criticise Platt but I thought he had a good game and Kays finishing is top class.
Dews are a decent team especially at home ,and hopefully today's tough game will tee us up for Fax next week which will be another tough rough game.Cmon you on Leythers.Does anyone know what's up with Hock?As Charlie doesn't, and neither do any Leythers it seems.
