| Quote: WYSIWYG "He has insulted the Leigh fans calling us despicable, posted an obscene insult on Twitter to one lady, then spouted veiled threats on Radio Manchester, saying he doesn't want to be part of that. In other words he's setting the stall to walk and then he can blame the fans.
What does he do after that - he cuts off from social media. It's funny how he loved social media when all was going well and people were licking his backside. His picture was even put on the side of the Centurion pub alongside Leigh greats - Alex Murphy, John Woods, Tony Cottrell. I don't know whose idea that was but it was an absolute insult to those Leigh greats.
We had a team winning Championship after Championship and an excellent coach. He's come along and dismantled it and now we are in the state we are in. It isn't what you would call a successful reign. It appears to be a hobby.
As for the players and where we will be playing in future, I would rather see a team of lads who want to play their hearts for Leigh playing on Marsh Playing Fields, than this set of journeymen.
What I would say to all in the current set up is to roll your sleeves up and play until your lungs are bursting for the pride of playing for Leigh in front of a set of fans who are the most passionate in Rugby League and an honour to have on your side. And as for DB - pick your dummy up and understand what an honour it is to be in charge of Leigh Rugby League. What an honour it is to have such passionate fans who live and breathe Leigh Rugby League. What an honour it is to be a LEYTHER. You do NOT insult us!!!
Now lets all pull together and storm those Middle 8s - or if you don't have the stomach for the fight then - do one. There will always be aLeigh Rugby League club.'"

So much for he’s deffo gone and that DB was done, why would you start spouting all that nonsense about if you clearly don’t know the truth, he may have hadn’t a wobble which he’s had before but one thing is clear, DB isn’t a quitter and will get us there, I’m sure I’d question myself and commitment with the way things have started after such an investment. You need to make sure you have all the facts before you start playing the “inside man” card and giving us all false hopes/worries. With your “leigh will 100% be replacing Salford in SL” and where about to sign this player and that player. I can guess at facts enough times so I eventually will get it right even if I’m wrong 9 times out of 10.
Please only concrete correct information and not rumours..... thanks burns

Last time I checked “nearly” and “100% will happnen” aren’t the same outcome. Unforntly i like to read the forum and it’s impossible to avoid your misguided posts as there crop up everywhere.
Alls I’m saying is don’t go saying things are concrete when your clearly not in a position to know... many thanks bud

| Derek is a Leigh fan through and through even though he was such an irritating gobby shiiiite 15 years or so ago at the away games watching Leigh.
He has made his money and put it into his Town team so good luck to him. He is unlikely to be the type of person to like criticism but his comments around Jukes' departure did make me think a little. He gave me the impression that Jukes was the Coach because he is a good 'friend' and even though it was honourable to employ him at AB sundecks (which again raises eyebrows that he just wants everyone to like him) it makes me wonder whether he can handle this alone at this moment in time. The whole Jukes scenario was very defensive and passive. Friend or not, if he aint good enough, he has to go !
I think he needs to back off and let the people who are paid to do the job just 'do it' !!! If he cant trust them, dont employ them. A good leader will always tell his Boss to 'sod off' and mind his own Business. Can Purtill do this ?
I sincerely hope that Marwan Koukash gets involved. OK, they are a couple of clowns, but it could be just the release Derek needs. Lets be honest, the infrastructure at Leigh should interest Marwan and his involvement could be the spark the club needs.
We dont have a bad team, but confidence is so low at the moment. we need a good run in the next 10 games to get us back in there because the other teams have alot of points to drop. Playing Toronto in Blackpool could be a blessing in disguise.

| You can't fault DB's financial commitment to Leigh, however, that comes at a cost. DB wants full control & involvement within everything involving the establishment. The situation Leigh are in at the moment is due to DB's impulsive poor decision making. Leigh in 2015 had a fantastic season, they went unbeaten for 20 games or so, beat Wakey, Salford & almost beat Wire in the challenge cup. Leigh won a lot of fans over as they played exciting rugby. However, due to that cc success they had a back log of games to play then came the middle 8 play offs. Therefore, Leigh was flat mentally & physically. Instead of using this as an experience, keeping that squad together & adding to it, deggsy decided to disrupt the squad by bringing in the likes of chase etc & interfering with rowley & his coaching, hence why rowley left. With these kind of decisions you're inviting problems. Okay Leigh got promoted the season after, however, keeping ageing players to play week in week out within SL is a tall order, it was okay in the championship but not for SL, hence why they were relegated. With the ageing players & again poor decisions by deggsy signing the likes of stewart you're only inviting problems, which it proved. What could stewart do that goulden couldn't ? As riddy proved on sunday ... poor decsions are and have been made & that's come from person in charge !! (No doubt I will get the rowley didn't get us in SL replies, it wasn't rowley's fault that Leigh didn't reach SL it was circumstances).

DB does have to take responsibility for his decisions, but the single biggest error he made was keeping Jukes in charge after the MPG.
Some points to counter some of this post though;
- 2015 8s showed that the pack was not good enough, so players like Paterson, Maitua, Hansen and Weston were brought in. The average age of our pack probably went down in 2016 when you consider they replaced Goulden, Aspinwall and Wilkes
- Riddy case was very bad man management, and my understanding was a decision by Jukes, not DB.
- As big a fan as I was of Tommy Goulden in a Leigh shirt, he retired at the end of 2015, is 2 or 3 years older than Glenn Stewart and not as good a player. GS was one of the best players in SL in the year before we signed him, and we needed a second row to replace the retiring Reni Maitua. Unfortunately we had a coach who chose to use him as an extra half back (see a theme developing here)
