Staggered by some of the season ticket numbers being suggested, but then again with what appeared to be no strategy apart from charge those regulars what ever we feel as they will keep going.

I wonder how many of the missing adult season ticket holders actually purchased junior tickets to?

Couple all the pricing debacle with a variety of match days and times and is it any wonder the attendances are low.

The above aside, the new kids offer is a step in the right direction. Me personally I have been watching for 30 years and I didn't buy a season ticket. I'm sure I am not alone so how does the club engage again with me? I now have a family and even paying £37 with 2 adults and £1 child isn't attractive in 2012!!

Quote: maurice "I am all for kids for a quid with Adult, and for cheap u16's season tickets - I aint for U16's for a quid unaccompanied. If we have 50 now paying £8 we need 400 to pay a quid to break even, if not more.

I am still awaiting Matts reply, and I know all kids aint Chavs - my kids started with ST's going with Grandad and Me, I would guess most started in a similar way although not all.'"

Not sure what you're wanting me to reply to but if you mean what seasons it was running then it was from 1998 until partway through the 2001 season when the £10 season tickets came in for a 2/3 years. Ironically enough, the end of the £10 season tickets was pretty right at the time when people probably first point to a slide in our fortunes just before we got promoted.

I'm actually a little disappointed that only under 12's are included - as I said on here earlier, a lot of people first start attending when they have the independance as younger high school kids to attend a structured event on their own. Not even going to start on your suggestion that all kids are a bunch of chavs, which is at least hugely inaccurate and at most downright insulting to the hundreds, if not thousands, of good kids in this town who's name is dragged down by the minority.

Still, let's see how it goes and hopefully it can help to nurture a new generation of supporters.

Fantastic news.
The club has finally realised its support base is ageing and rapidly needs to stop this happening.
We have had more positive ideas / news coming out the club in the last 3 months than in the last 10 years IMO.
The offer is a brilliant one and I hope its main remit is to 'revisit it in 5 years time to see how its done'.
I would have extended it to all Under 16 as unfortunatly Leigh are not attracting that group in numbers either, I can fully understand peoples concerns but I'm mindful the LSV would have ample stewards to stamp any problems out (I do agree with Scooter Nik though , watching Leigh Centurions isn't the attraction we seem to think for many of the towns teenagers ).

Just need to get the kick off day sorted a big ball playing prop , and a big fast winger and we're flying icon_wink.gif icon_cool.gif

I think we need a scrum half that can do 80mins before any of those.

Look, fact of the matter is whether people agree with it or not, it's an initiative, its an idea. Any idea is better than no idea. All the nay-sayers, why don't you offer your services to the club, if it's that simple why not just go in and sort it out? Turn those 1500 gates into sell-out crowds. Think too many fans are trapped in the glory years and expect them to just come rolling back. Coupled with the worst recession to hit the country EVER in terms of length and salary-cost of living percentage, us having three world class rugby league teams within 15 miles of us, 3 world class football teams as well as the other local football teams such as bolton and wigan playing premiership football every week, i dont think that out of our 60000 people population, that 1500 a week is too bad! Anybody who doesn't like it may as well catch the bus to warrington or wigan or St. Helens. I'd rather be nested in between 200 die hard fans every week watching Leigh play gateshead and south wales scorpions every week than have a thousand odd saying, "that was S***, They're done wi me!!!", or, " *whoever's playing at 6* isn't fit to lace woody's boot's!". It hardly creates a buzz about the place does it? We know the team we have now is nowhere near as good as our championship, or challenge cup winning sides, but folk need to get a grip, it's nigh on 30 years ago! Let the folks who are trying to start incentives to come to games and other initiatives just get on with it, there's no correct method, it's just a case of what works for us!!!!

I am dissapointed at the negative comments regarding 12 - 16yr olds.
That is the age group we should target as they are potentially the next batch of paying fans. Do you really think that a group of 16yr olds on Firs Park drinking cider will give a flying fig about walking to the LSV to pay a quid for the pleasure of standing around for 90mins were they can't drink and smoke etc? If they are interested in the game they will watch it otherwise why bother. After all, they prefer dark parks etc so why would they want to be under the bright lights of the LSV in full view of hundreds of adults.

Another major issue when trying to get parents to take younger kids - they must be able to buy pop and crisp etc at good prices. Kids will always want refreshments at an event - what would it cost a dad for pop and a hot dog for 2 kids at the LSV? I bet he would think twice about taking them again.

Don't forget, whatever incentives are available we need a winning and entertaining team on the park or they won't return.

Tell you what, let's not try anything. The club tries a range of things for a range of people and get nothing but stick from the same people.

You are damaging the club more than they are by using these forums to constantly put them down.

Youre pi55ing and whining nomatter what.

Put up or **** off

I totaly agree with most of your comments but the cost of food is only the same if not cheaper than what you buy at the new cinema. I know the entertainment is better (in the childrens eyes) at the cinema and this is where the big question is. How do we make it trendy to go and watch the Centurions for the kids of Leigh? Maybe they come in with an adult but are allowed into the south or east stand or they have there own club in part of the east stand like a youth club.

So who convinces the adult to come?

The kids. If a child mythers their parents for long enough they get what they want. Maybe there are parents or gransparents who are part of the die hards that have children who could be prospective fans. Gets the kids in and it could be a case that their parents realise what they have been missing

Maybe a lot of parents don't go to the cinema for the same reason.
Anyway dads should be going to watch rugby, not watching a bl88dy film!

Are these 'new' kids coming with an additional adult? Not knocking it either way, as all is welcome, just curious.
