| Well Dico this Frank does not spread rumours about the Pies playing at the LSV because he does not want them there plus he would not believe such a ridiculous rumour.
Hope you had a good time in Oz.

| It was alright, certainly not the paradise they all make it out to be.. oh yeah, it rains more there too. If any aussie ever tells you about the sun sea and sand over there and their summer: give em a slap.
Give me England anyday.
I forgot there was a Frank on here, it was simply one of the many stereotypical old folk names I could have chosen. No offence meant.

And Matt yes it was a sly one, but it is true. Championship clubs do tend to have fan bases who have been knocking around a while, the old loyal lot if you will and are prone to rumours spreading over a couple of real ales at the bar.
Hell, im suprised this forums as active as it is, and that you dinosaurs can use the world wide web
Don't know were you get the old fan base thing from to be honest Dico, you only have to look round the north stand on match day and you see a lot of young ones, entitled to your opinion though.
Good luck for the season i think you will do well.

Aside from the posters dig , our club really does need to do some work about getting the kids in though.
Its too expensive for pay on day IMO and our support is getting older.
Time for the club to bite the bullet and get all U16's in for £3.00 for all games, they are our future , if we don't get em Wire, Wigan & Salford etc, etc will gladly take them.
I have no idea what we have to lose by doing this, its not as if Children tickets are currently bringing in loads of revenue for the club and they are the most likely type of supporter who will want replica strips/ club merchandise.

I don't think that just because that happens that nothing can be done (and in fairness I don't think Leigh would just accept that or that the LSV wouldn't have dialogue before setting the price)Leigh will have input into what the prices are set at.
I'm sure the LSV / Leigh partnership would wish to actually attract more young support thus guarenteeing both parties long term future.
For me (using yesterday as a example) £7.00 is a lot of money for a child from 5 to 11 years old to pay to watch, we need support to survive and that age bracket needs massively targetting to underpin and back up the excellant community work going on by the club, the season ticket deals and pay on the day adult prices are right (in fact the club/LSV deserve congratulating on maintaining roughly the same price for 3 seasons or so) but the child ones are not IMO- especially to new RL fans.

| As much as I do enjoy a good dig everything I say I personally believe to be true.
Your fanbase is too old. period.
Go round every school in the vicinity and offer £30 season tickets to kids under the age of 11. Do it, like now.. Send leaflets home with every kid, hell, advertise on their timetables just do it. It will secure your future.
One kid gets in cheap, they bring a mate and then they bring a mate. I went to watch wire for about a 35 quid season ticket years ago and from me and me alone theres about 6 or 7 long term wire supporters and parents who would never have gone had it not been for me. Some will drop off over time but you can call it the stadium but theres a reason wires average has increased for years after the wolfpack was first introduced.
£30 a season ticket for u11s.. do it.

In fairness some of the ST prices are cheap.
These are now leighrl.rlstore.co.uk/category/tickets but the early bird offers had bigger savings to be had so we are trying things out, but its a money market we are missing and one we need to survive.
My concern is the pay on day (and the old moan of mine, the lack of a family ticket).
I agree with what you say though, if you can get 2 kids out of one classroom to go (and they enjoy it) you will slowly have 5 or 6 from that same class going as they hear what they are missing out on, they will spend far more than anyone else on the sport/club in the longrun with the added bonus of securing a future for the club.
With the lack of money in the Championship I appreciate the club cannot afford certain things that (for example) SL or Premier League football clubs offer, but a lot of low league football clubs do excellant family deals and run very good Junior supporter clubs.
If I had a wish list of one thing the club was able to properly invest in or seek financial support (from the RFL or sponsors) over the next 5 years it would be for a individual to run and set up a Junior Centurion Club and be totally responsible for getting in more youngsters to watch Leigh and RL and create a family area at the LSV with responsibility of looking after just that 1 aspect of the club.

| Thats unfair, Dico, a friendly game that we were never gonna win. However you are right re the kids being the future, we have and still do give kids tickets through our community dept, which incidently won Community Club of the Year last season. Hannah and co their do a super job, we could do with a bit of help from the council too that run the ground if we are to get more people in.

| One games all well and good and I understand that it can be a money issue however, its all about habbit. People get in the habbit and old timers also lose the habbit im sure you've noticed this with declining attendances over the years.
Still, say you got 150 more kids coming with my 30 quid season ticket idea, I wouldnt be suprised if you were that worse off from what they pay now and.. kids have to bring parents.

| Another gem from the official RFL website, on Wakefield's plight! Speaking at the club's media day, CEO James Elston said“We’ve got somewhere to play (presumably while the new stadium is built) but I can’t confirm it at the moment because the costs would go up."[/i
Elston, who met the Rugby Football League this morning to provide them with assurances over their future, also confirmed the club were involved in negotiations to play their home games at Barnsley next season as they prepare to leave their ageing Belle Vue ground.
So much for keeping the venue secret!!

Well they've got pots of money Derek. According to the RFL (again) they have only raised £26k of the £500k needed by the end of January.
To the uninitiated, it might appear that the RFL is trying to cr*p on Wakefield!
