With the retirement of Finny and Tuki not getting a VISA it's not really a surprise we've gone to the market for a running second row forward.

Muzza was at East the other night and it's a good opportunity for the young lads to get some Championship game time as they may have been destined for 20s RL this year with the strength of our first team squad.

So, our original 29 man squad could be down to 26. (29 - Finnigan - possibly 3 others +Haggerty) I know Haggerty is quality, but where would that leave us if we suffer a raft of injuries?

In same boat as any other club in the division Alan if unfortunate enough to suffer a raft of injuries.

We have lads pushing hard in the 20s And will come through this year, example being the young hooker who runs with the first team Sunday again.

IMO and purely based on what I've seen myself as I have not spoken with anyone in the coaching team I firmly believe Hankinson will push hard this year.

Paul has identified an area of the team he felt he needed to strengthen and gone out and got one of the best players in the Championship in that roll.

Squad strongest with most depth in Championship IMO and the regular first team RL this year will only benefit Bullock and Briscoe.

Is Haggerty class though? Anyone know anything about him? Stats hardly light up the world.

He did impress for Barrow in both games against us, last year. And he is a former Leigh Academy player, is he not?

He has played for us twice, he captained the Academy and was here on loan before Basil came.
A running second row forward who can score tries - leading scorer at Barrow last year I think.

Haggerty is a very good player,I have been impressed with him everytime I have seen him,I think its a good deal for everyone involved.We certainly do have a great pack this year with size and some speed.

I rate him but is this a loan agreement for us or have we signed him ?

PR's selection for our pack this season will be interesting not to mention difficult.

Kurt played with us 10 or 11 times back in 2009 and scored a few tries (3 I think), he has also played for Saints, Widnes (was a leading light in thier promotion promise (sorry season ) & Blackpool, all from The David book of RL knowledge

Not Surprised Kurt Haggerty is one of the most underrated second row forwards outside of SL and was rumoured to be full time on on a big contract at Barrow after stepping down from SL last year so our Board have pulled off a major coup here in getting Paul his man.

Son of former Saints hard case Roy and best years still in front of him and good age with plenty to prove like Matty Sarsfield.

Who else has left beside Bullock and Briscoe ? Mentions players but names just two?

Well Charlie is happy with the deal although I do rate Joe B ,I did say giving Craig Briscoe a 4 year contract was a mistake , we need Quality at Leigh , not Quantity , I know injuries may strike during the Season , but our Squad is big enough I remember young Haggerty at Leigh and always rated him , a good deal by PR .

I spoke to 2 experienced Coaches this week about Leigh , both were at the Salford game and they were very impressed with Leigh and the quality of our Squad , one commented then on the size of our Squad being a bit big , but he did say he thought we will win the League this season .
