Its funny when you think about it. You can play 70-75 minutes of cr@p rugby and fans only waiting to the end so they can boo and jeer the lads off at FT, then suddenly a long distance try wins you the game in last seconds to send you home in the best of moods with most fans cheering the lads off.
Same with the season. Had we swapped the end of this season to the start, and ended the season like we started and claiming 3rd place and the playoffs - it would have had us all happy and looking forward to next season.
We started off too well, and a lot of fans thought we was world beaters until.....

We have won three more games this league season than last. I am chuffed about that, but let's not overstate things. Last season was the exception for Leigh rather than the norm at this level. Since we were relegated after the 2005 Super League season we have tended to finish 3rd 4th or 5th. Many people were critical of those seasons but some seem to think some kind of miracle has been achieved this year. We have done well, like we did in 2006,2008 etc. Nothing more, nothing less. I am pleased, but no more than I was then. In fact I was more chuffed in 2006, as we actually won something.

That has been our problem. IMO we definitely over-performed, early doors. We seemed fitter than the others then, and ground them into submission, based on a ferocious defence. Then the rest got as fit as us, and class and pace began to tell........... |
