| Quote: Tom G "I’ve not posted on these forums for a long time. So before anyone starts with a first time post and all that I’ve been there in the bad times. Even walking to Widnes years ago to keep the club going.
Jukes is one of the worst coaches I’ve seen. Out of his depth. Happy to run it as a lads club where there aren’t any rules. Only one manager is hard enough to sort this club out and it’s Tony Smith. Yes he’s not as charismatic as some others. But he’s a born winner who won’t take anything from the players and knows how to win an arm wrestle of a game instead of always looking to play fancy. If he’s not the number 1 choice then we accept mediocrity. All this of appointing Higham is nonsense. What happened to the last coach we appointed with no experience. We got promoted and he got found out and we end up here. An experienced coach who knows how to get promoted and then stay in SL. Shaun Edwards fits the same description of a coach with no experience.
Tony Smith
Milward
Richard Agar'"
We will all have our ideas on our next Coach and that's our prerogative Let me say I don't agree with any of yours Welcome back to the forum
Wire fans hated Smith he was ridiculed by them, I too don't like him for the he dismissed us when he was at Hudds!
Millward, I cant believe anyone would even suggest him ! Sacked at Saints, sacked at Wigan and sacked at Cas
Surely you remember when Cas announced he was to be their coach , halfway through his contract with us?
Agar no.
For me it would have been John Kear we've missed that chance now!
I wouldn't hesitate to appoint Andrew Henderson IMO he would be superb, did a top job at London look at them now !

| Ok, I set up a Poll on the FB page & will give my ten penneth.
1= Ian Watson *under contract*
1= Andrew Henderson *Assistant Coach at Wire*
3. John Kear *under contract*
4 Tony Smith
Watson has done well at Salford given their circumstances + he has asked for more money to recruit players & been refused.
Given that they might be facing a bad financial situation over coming months it might be a good time to entice him away.
Henderson has a good history, though some might see it as a backwards step going from Head Coach at London to Assistant at Wire I bet he doesn't , he is loooking towards long term progression.
An added advantage is that he is both young & driven & will likely make a good connection with our Antipodean contingent.
John Kear obviously has a new contract as Head Coach at Bradford & so likely out of the running but in League 1, he is a fighter though, gets very decent results from small budgets, I wonder how he would go with more cash in the pot ?
Tony *Can't look you in the eye* Smith
My least favourite but included because he has at least achieved some silverware with Wire & though they ended in the Q8's they were never in danger.
Smith is also the runaway leader in the poll.
Anyone who thinks Micky Higham should be coach wants sedating. Micky another great bloke, great hooker, fires his team mates up & wears Leigh on his sleeve but has zero experience & *jokingly* how would the Aussies & PNG lads ever understand a word he says ?
So they are my current picks, not without obstacles to face.
Have I forgotten any possible good candidates ?
Whoever it is needs to enforce it is done there way & without any interference from KFC or DB *an absolute must*.

| John Kear is an interesting shout. Has Batley punching above their weight. Can he command that dressing room? I’d argue not. Has to be Smith. Wire fans did ridicule him. But he also gave them their most successful period in living memory. He commands respect

| I do remember milward announced as Cas. But I also knew when he returned we were a stepping stone back to Super League. He gets Leigh and played some of the best rugby I’ve ever seen when the club didn’t have half as good players

| The problem here though is that Beaumont just can't keep his hands out of the pot and no self respecting coach would ever take a job where the owner meddles so much in 'coaching business'.
If you ever chat to Alex Murphy he will tell you that the one thing he would not tolerate was interference from the board and they were only there to buy the players HE requested. The players only answered to him and he in turn answered to the board, He felt so strongly about it that it was almost a condition of his employment and the only place he ever went where the board meddled was Salford and look how that turned out. He wasn't there two minutes.

I agree mostly with this , Alex the Best Coach I have ever seen, and always his own man , I spoke today with Andy Greg, he said a Coach needs to be in full control, I asked him about his time at Salford as Coach , he said John Wilkinson would come to him and ask What is the Team today Andy? But otherwise never got involved.
