To be honest though, the ref hardly helped. Some guy called Turley, he was rubbish. On a serious note I don't think the ref affected the scoreline as such. The only criticism was the fact that Hunslet gave away penalty after penalty in the 2nd half and he didn't once warn the player or captain. As well as persistant infringements, twice Hunslet were penalised for dangerous, lifting abouve the horizontal style tackles - yet again no warning from the ref. Hunslet should really have had a man go to the bin in the 2nd half - but then again, Widnes needing Hunslet to go down to 12 men says it all really.


Poor performance from Widnes, no creativity, not much effort 1st half and even when we got on a roll in the 2nd half, we threw it away with stupid errors - 2 or 3 times giving penalties when we were in possession attacking the Hunslet line. By the end, even though we were only losing by 2 points the players began to panic and showed no composure whatsoever (which led to Pryce picking up a dropped ball and putting the game to bed). IMO we are paying the price for not signing another scrum half after Webster decided to retire. Not much came from 6, 7 , 9 or 13 really, so its not surprising we're looking workman like rather than brilliant.

Under Betts we look defensively better than under Cullen, but as said already, don't look great going forward. Wouldn't surprise me if Leigh win fairly comfortably next week, but having said that, Leigh do look to be conceeding quite a few points recently, so if Widnes hold up defensively you never know.

You can always lead by example here? Or better just cry that every club in every league is to blame for Leigh's pi$$ poor turnouts?

yes we were very poor today but over last 7 that was the odd stand out performance, not the norm!

Ignorance is bliss... We could win and go top? But bet you'd still moan. I know your bitter because it's announcement time and no-one can even remember who Leigh are but try to enjoy your RL eh!

Mate i know ref was e, but Pickers and I,Anson had bad discipline and if was more composed would have won.Play the ball too slow and needs speeding up more.

Tell your friends to stop whining about our SL bid constantly then... Who would they rather have in? No-one has dominated the Championship on the field so not as if stopping that side.

Over reaction on all sides mate. We have 2 cracking results and think players are the greatest, one poor one and now all want dropping. Hunslet could still easily be the one slip up in a really productive season.

It was clear Betts wanted to give longer run outs to usual bench players in prep for Leigh and it backfired at the opening. Bad mix of forwards too as Hecky, Kav & Varks did very well so time on field should of been split up.

I'm not going to demand they all leave after one poor game when many of those did very well against Sheffield last week! Give it 3/4 weeks then we'll see how good / bad size is. Problem today was first hone game in a while and shocking showing so great form away lost on a lot of fans so we need to be much better at home.
