There are two problems with the cap for a club like alright firstly to sign players of the calibre of Hansen, Stewert etc you have to pay over the odds, they don't leave clubs like Catalan and Wigan (via. Salford) for the glory so to entice them to your club, we had it for years at Hull and now finally we can offer something more than money, it will take a few years to get to that level.

The 2nd reason is youth, yesterday we had 6 players missing, this meant our bench have 3 young kids playing (all on low salary) whilst you had 7 or so out but still had an experienced bench, you have too many experienced squad players, if you a youth/reserve team you can replace some of your squad players like Green with younger cheaper players allowing you to sign better quality players for your 17, again this will take years and patience.

And there is a very good reason for that

Someone with Ryan's pace and ability to back up, would be a godsend to our team. (remember the unfinished long breaks by Crooks and Hood, yesterday?) The problem with Ryan though, is exactly the same as with our current Ryan (Hampshire) - just what position do you play him in?

If Brierley hadn't decided he was too good for Leigh and jumped ship, he would now be an integral part of the team, he left and is suffering the consequences of his error. He is history.

I'd say we need a second rower quite desperately. Missing that strike power that we had with Maitua and Paterson. Now we have Stewart seeming to play more like a wider half back, and Vea who probably should be playing short spells at prop, if he plays at all.

Whether there are any funds, cap space or players available is another matter.

I would have Hock & Acton doing the 80 between them. If they both started, the opposition would feel safer when they were replaced.

I agree. The bench has to be as strong as the starting forwards - in the ideal, injury free world.
