| Incredible decision which shows not only are the RFL inept and have not the slightest clue what Championship fans want to see but (far worse) it underlines just how totally out of touch the Championship clubs short sighted owners are.
The NRC final is about a event, the day, the build up.
Playing it at a normal run of the mill RL ground (where we visit or have visited frequently) means its a 'non event' so it becomes like any other match.
I remember pre Blackpool the sub 1,000 gates for this competiton when at Keighley and Rochdale (bearing in mind it was the two best supported clubs at Rochdale in Hull KR and Leigh).
A incredible decision that shows as a sport we are really short on creative thinkers with a vision.

Whilst not arguing with the sentiments of your post, Jenky, the gate at Spotland for Leigh v Hull KR was 4,383. Not a good gate by Blackpool standards, but still not 'sub-1,000'.
The previous year's gate, (2004) for Salford v Leigh, also at Spotland, was 6,486 - virtually the same as last year's gate for Halifax v Featherstone, at Blackpool.

Pay in advance (£5.50 isn't it?) and pour the money into Salford/Peel/Koukash's coffers!
I thought the idea was to use a Championship ground - not put money into a SL club?

| So have they officially ditched just about the only good thing Championship Rugby had going for it?
Apart from Wembley, all the alternative suggestions were pants.

Just shows how the memory goes - back in those days we was a well supported team on the road (still are now but I suppose its relative) , must admit I cant even remember the Salford final !
I remember the Keighley game at Keighleys ground (probably the first sign Leigh was coming out of the doldrums after some really poor bottom of the league years) and the Hull KR match (we must have really outnumbered them as I can only remember circa 2-300 Hull KR fans in the left hand stand - some fighting amongst themselves !).
With whats going on we may see a record gate for the NRC as if Leeds or Warrington's reserves get their I'm sure they'll pack whatever ground they play it in

| I do Jenky. Stu Littler made a right nuisance of himself and played a blinder for Salford both scoring and winding up the Leigh team.

Quite agree with theh sentiments on the whole threed - sad days.
The only way of getting Blackpool FC to reduce the costs is to get some compertion into bidding for the event. With Scarbourgh gone the only places on the east coast would be Newcastle, Gateshead or Cleethorpes (AKA Grimsby).
Need to get someone to bid agaist Blackpool so as to get them to reduce their costs. anyone up for a weekend away at the big market & quayside?

It would have to be at Gateshead Athletics ground as it would be like a ghost ground holding it at the whatever they call it now ground.
