| But in that case, why should a "private company" get any sort of council tax income? The cloth should be cut accordingly if they are going to be viable, but personally I don't see much sign of that.

Not sure how the private company works, as the council themselves are a big partner aren't they. Also public transport companies are privately owned but get money from tax.
Agree about cutting cloth accordingly. I was really making point about the stadium isn't a community facility as such.
I went to some under 21 games at HP, and remember not many staff (if any) was on with a crowd comparable to the Genesis game against Chorley. Why do we need so much staff for a game with 187 people in attendance?

| Because the ex safety officer risked his neck by doing both RMI and Centurions a favour, all the LSV do is to impose the law as directed by the various requirements imposed because some football fans cant/couldnt behave themselves and act like decent human beings.

| But isn't the LSV Co staffed with council employees or is it (ex) council employees. Also I don't ever remember it being touted as a 'council' facility from its inception to when it opened, unless of course I wasn't listening (always possible)

Usually Fred I'm in total agreement with you but on this point your talking total rubbish...................Non- league football is as civilised as going to County Cricket, don't mix it up with the rabble that you get at Football Lge. / Premiership level.

I had the pleasure of working with him at Hilton Park he managed the fixture and staffing levels with compliance with the safety certificate but risk managed with a common sense approach.Understanding that over egging cost the clubs real money, albeit he didn't have the hi tech control facilities to look after ie 60+ cameras. fire detection systems to monitor and 20+ car park stewards coming on shift 5 hrs before K.O. To his credit in the 5yrs he was there, managing larger crowds than the LSV to date.
And to my Knowledge averaging 45 fixtures per season Never have a delayed kick off or the turnstile queues of the LSV. And other than starbugs infamous hosepipe incident never had a postponed or abandoned fixture, Still the past is the past they say. i,ll be at the Lsv on the 25th no doubt queuing at one of the 2 turnstiles for the north stand, The cost of progress.

So its rubbish that certain incidents at football games throughout the 80's & 90's gave draconian regulations to ALL football stadiums is it?
Read what I wrote not what you think I wrote, I made no mention of non league football teams.
I was at Hilton Park when the scum from Manchester were there and just ask Si about Carlisle fans, if thats like county cricket im glad i dont go.

| Hi Fred
Did'nt think it would take you over 5 hours to volley back...............
Where is Matt when you need him for for back up ? ..........seriously I go watching non-lge on a regular basis and see generally nothing more than good banter.........
accept your point about FCUM (especially in their early days) and teams like Carlisle when they were in the Conference...........but we are talking Unibond and Vodkat football , and in all honesty mate you are wrong. Examples being the last 3 matches I've attended.........Glossop North End........Woodley Sports........Lancaster City.......total number of crowd stewards at all 3 combined was NIL ( honest to god ! ) and this is the level of football and crowds similar to Genesis.
Ps I've even seen a few idiots at various rugby games but do we have a serious problem.................I think not !

| Peter please read what I originally wrote then tell me that the football riots didnt happen during the 70's 80's and 90's and that Hillsborough, Heyshall, and Glasgow disasters didnt happen.
The lsv is goverened (as are ALL FOOTBALL STADIA) by the same regulations as are the football league clubs.
Matt also works at a Football, league ground and probably knows a little about the regulatuons that govern that ground well its news day again Peter as those same regulations govern the LSV stadium.
Im not talking about Genesis Im talking about WHERE THEY PLAY, that governs the regulations not the league, its the same laws. Or am I just
I just wish peple would read whats written and not what they think is written.

| Think they managed to get away with it a little more at HP because they simply weren't the same number of stairwells and exits etc. It must be said that there's probably half the number of the stewards on duty at the LSV as there was during the latter part of last season, but it's got as much to do with the council being scared of a lawsuit than anything else.
The place just isn't designed for non-league football, nor indeed Championship rugby to a certain extent. All well and good with hindsight, but maybe the place is just too big in terms of both capacity and operations.

Maybe, but on the other hand, it's on the lower end of what's acceptable (capacity wise) for Super League, and that has to be the rugby clubs aim.
It's a difficult situation, but the town has a modern facility and, unfortunately, the modern rules to go with it.

And if anything Dave you've merely backed up Peter's point, with Halifax historically being a league club and only in our league by an accident of finances.
