You had one try rightly disallowed as the ball was lost and another wrongly given at the end despite knock ons and possibly no grounding of the ball.

McNally was awful and Littler did not want to know whenever Lockers or Hansen came near him. Brierley showed glimpses and Parker took his try well. Beyond Brierley their is no attacking ability in the current Leigh set up. You despartately need more D/C input.

What I saw tonight was not even good enough to challenge the best Championship teams.'"

Hiya St annes boy, cmon Wigan dont need help and that ref caned us. The realisation was after rthe linesman deleted 3 try's he stood for a forward pass and the ref ignored him.
Fantastic turnout for a game we couldn't win, and I trust Trevor now knows the passion in our side of the borough
Total respect for what wane is doing and hope we can getcloser in the years to come - btw your fans were slaughtered tonight icon_biggrin.gifANCE:

Quote: robt90 "fully agree, he's a phenomenal player and bound to cop a bit of stick. Its more a compliment to his abilities the fact he becomes the pantomime villain for the crowd. Its all banter with no real malice which was typified by the way the Wigan players clapped the Leigh fans and vice versa at the end of the game.'"

Tomkins is best mates with one of Leigh's subs tonight, and is a regular at Leigh home games when playing duties allow.

If you think the referee was to blame then Leigh have no chance of ever getting anywhere. The referee was generous to Leigh tonight. He made allowances. It is a very simple rule, if more than one player is part of a tackle you cannot strip the ball. Imagine if the Leigh players had engaged their brain and stopped stripping the ball. Penalty count half immediately.

No slaughterhouse near the DW icon_wink.gif I believe we got what we wanted, an easy win, opportunity to blood some youngsters, no injuries and progress to the next round and Leigh got a vital financial handout. Hopefully, Leigh can use that handout to start to compete with Halifax, Feathertstone and Sheffield.

Tonight was the poorest Leigh team I have seen. I obviously watch Leigh far less than you Leythers do but that team was as poor as I can recall.

Quote: Conroy "Unfortunately though it goes that bit further in RL. If he scored the winner in the World Cup final there would be several Leigh, Leeds, Saints, Wire etc fans that would boo him.'"

As someone who used to follow GB and (latterly) England home and away I think its fair to say a number of SL fans do that, I once saw Cunningham reacting to a load of abuse playing for GB from Wigan fans d040.gif

I remember having a blazing row in the South Stand at Headingly when Edwards copped virtually non stop abuse when putting in a cracking performance for England v South Africa in a World Cup game, now Edwards was no hero of mine (put him in a Wigan shirt and he was the biggest shyster going icon_lol.gif ) but if the players play for the country your supporting I'm a firm believer in you give them 100% backing regardless of club loyalty.

I thought the Ref did us no favours by being a bit to keen on with his no holding on in the tackle which caned us with penalties or which allowed Wigan quick PTB's that they ripped us to bits outside from for try after try in the opening 20 in each half ( thought we held our own in both 2nd 20's though ) .

Good finishing though .

Made up with the lads last night, think Briscoe and Riddy deserve a special mention.
Brierley & Parker played well too.

I can't believe how big and strong Sam Tomkins is compared to a couple of years ago.

On the positives Wigan didn't really get anywhere through our pack, but the flair of the half backs and pace, strength out wide was way way too much for our slow back line, but as we've all said in recent weeks we need more pace out wide.

1890 Leythers there in the north stand (plus however many were down the side), and every single one should be there for the bigger game v Batley next week.

Flute song...only negative from the night.

Did you go to Hull KR over Easter? I was wondering how they would fare against "the best Championship teams", or even against us? icon_wink.gif

I too was also very proud of the lads and our fans. However i do not like some of the songs we sing, i really dislike the flute and then in 2nd half a rendition of your going home to **** your sister. However overall happy today unlike after the shay shambles

You are dreaming. I was at all three of the above, and the only incident was at the Exiles game. It was a small group in the South Stand and that was it. Stop being daft!

Quote: Fylde_Warrior "The penalty count reflected the stupidity of your players. Do not blame the referee who was very generous to Leigh.'"

I'm sorry read enough of your totally clueless opinions. The ref was not very generous to Leigh but we struggled with the pace Wigan set, tried to slow it down and paid the cost no problems with me. What I do have a problem with he disallowed 3 Leigh tries ( one correctly as riddy did lose the ball in contact just b4 grounding it & 2 incorrectly ) young hampshire's try came from a pass that went out to charnley originally & was 2 yd forward. Linesman held his ground to signal it was forward & was totally ignored by Thomason. You also put in a couple of very high shots that he allowed to go also. I was lucky to be invited by friends of mine ( Wigan fans ) to watch the game from their box last night and had a fantastic night surrounded by Wigan fans who gave nothing but praise to the Leigh teams & supporters efforts last night. I for one was a proud Leigh fan last night, my only wish now is that we continue with the brand of rugby & gameplan we used last night for the rest of this season. Also how quick is Sam tomkins, young Ryan had two goes at out pacing him last night and got run down, not something that he or we are used to seeing icon_smile.gif
