He blew for everything except Offside. He was a poor reff (again) and with the touch judge still in nappies, they let the games run away from them at times.
At least he was consistent in letting both teams play offside throughout.

ps Can anyone throw light onto why we had the try disallowed but was then given the scrum ?

Could it have been two knock-ons?

Granted the completion rate was frustratingly low, especially in the second half. For the first fifteen minutes of that half, it looked like the entire 40 minutes was going to be played in a twenty yard stretch of the pitch, with both teams dropping the ball!

However, it wasn't all gloom - I thought our defence was awesome. Keighley may have looked poor, (or been made to look poor more like) but to complete 80 minutes on a hot night, without conceding a point, was pretty impressive.

Enjoyed a Saturday night watching RL.
First half we seemed to play with a bit of direction and I felt we showed why we are top of the league.
Second half we threw so many wonder balls / dropped balls and gave the ref a reason to blow up which created a stop start nature that ensured we couldn't get our rhythm going. Throw in Keighleys inability to keep hold of the ball and it meant the 2nd half was scrappy.
Having said that we kept the opposition scoreless and if some of our passes had stuck (or we used more thought / less rushing) we could have put up a big score.
Not often you can say that there is a lot to improve on when the lads have just won by 30 and its a credit to the lads that our expectations are so high!
As for the players, Riddy made a difference and showed what we had missed (especially in the first 40) Barlow ran hard (despite so many cheap shots on him) but MOM for me was Bob Beswick.

Its all roads to Rochdale next week and after a few below performances over the last 4 weeks culminating in last weeks loss the lads can now build on tonights win (and defence that kept the opposition to nil) with hopefully a more polished performance although in saying that I'm mindful that at this part of the season the win is the most important thing.

Tonight was a very scrappy game , I lost count of how many balls we dropped ,and forward passes , Keighley are a poor team , and my prediction WILL go down , they never looked like scoring , just as well , but a wins a win , they didn't get a Bonus Point .

Hopefully next week against the Hairnets , we will shape better , when our passes stick and don't go forward someone is going to Cop a hiding , could be next Sunday ,hopefully Ryan is not injured , bring in Walker for a debut , and get Spenner back , give Alex Brown another go on the wing , maybe include Tommy G ,and its Happy Days .

I though Riddy did OK , took his try well , and kicked OK ,a couple of Cougars fans in the West Stand , weren't half having a go at Barlow for the first half-hour of the game , I honestly thought it was going to kick-off a bit , but the Stewards calmed it all down .

The try was disallowed for crossing but since it was a free play following a Keighley knock on the ref went back and gave us feed of a scrum rather than a penalty against us.

Indeed but he also has to apply the rules when the ball is dropped or passed forward.

Our defence was very good but our attack wasn't and unless that improves soon we might not enjoy the play offs.

The ref was the same for both sides and it wasn't his fault both teams ball retention was poor.

We last played well against Leeds away and the two Fev games' time the lads sorted it imo.

Quote: DemonUK "Can't think of many refs who let dropped balls and forward passes go. The flow of the game was disrupted by our inability to respect possession'"

Totally agree Derek and we have had a lot worse that Mr Gill. There were some odd signals from him but my biggest gripe was his differing 10mtr lines when we were in defence. Scrappy error strewn game but hey go a wins a win.
