| June 2016 was actually 22/5/16 v Swinton - 4 matches for punching plus 3 for striking with knee = 7
July 2017 was 1/7 17 v Catalans - 9 matches increased to four months on appeal.
Source RFL Disciplinary website, searching Jamie Acton.

Certainly lots of activity there! But those suspensions are there for all to see!

I'm not disputing that Alan, I know them to be fact. What I'm saying is the information given to the MRP which is clearly shown on his charge sheet, source RFL Disciplinary website, doesn't show 7 and 9 match suspensions. The info actually shows him painted in a better light.
Also reading the summary of CM's , which is very thorough.
"The MRP felt that contact had been made by the elbow of Mr Acton to the jaw area of his opponent"
Not a problem with that, fine leave it there. But they don't, they have to throw a spanner in the works with the last line.
"The MRP felt that a Grade E was appropriate, purely due to the fact that the contact with the elbow was not completely flush onto the head of the opponent"
He's either hit him with his elbow or not. They contradict themselves.

| They gave him credit for not quite being on target with his hit.

| Don't get me wrong Reffy and not condoning what he did,but if your handing 7 match bans out based on running technique and a ref half way down the park then its substantial at best, not factual.
What Acton did was wrong and he pleaded guilty to it. But the MRP have made a judgement based on substantial evidence, which I'm afraid shouldn't warrant 7 games as 7 games should be given on factual evidence only.

| The problem Acton has got, it gets worse as time passes, is the “it’s him again” factor. That is a situation that can only get worse unless he stops offending altogether.
Leigh just cannot indulge him any longer, he must go.

| For those of us who bemoan inconsistency in the disciplinary process, take a look at Rhys Curran's (Toulouse) suspension, from the game against London. The offence seems almost identical to Peter Mata'utia's against Leeds - and Curran has received exactly the same suspension. (4 games)
Of course, from a conspiracy viewpoint, the charge should have been dropped, then he could play against 'Fax on Sunday!!
Incidentally, I thought Curran's offered defence, in showing Bob Beswick making a similar challenge, against Toulouse, was a tad out of order!

Doesn't seem to like playing on the hard, fast grounds Norman. Unlike some of his team mates who didn't seem to fancy the soft grounds in the first month or so of the season!

A 'Leyther' has got a letter in this weeks Rugby League Express and he's asking; how did the MRP make their decision on the incident? was there any external influence involved because, he didn't think the Match Officials could have seen the incident and if that was so, then it should have been put on report and not a dismissal!
My view of the incident from the stand was, Hemingway and Acton were in my foreground and the Referee and Linesman were in the background down the hill! If the officials have said they saw the incident then I would be astonished Hemingway was around 20mtrs from us and had his back to us and therefore we could not
seen the point of impact. I initially thought the force of the collision and the hard landing had caused Hemingway's injury however since, Acton has admitted intentional use of the elbow on Hemingway, I haven't seen the video of the incident so I cant comment on it!
I have been a sympathiser with Jamie over the years as I believe he has not been treated fairly for the offences he has committed ! last years 'Hysterical' lengthy Ban for 'man handling' a 'concussed' opponent was the worst judgement I have ever seen! Greg Bird was never concussed, nor he was he unconscious as he proved by walking from the field unaided and subsequently returning to play later! We all know a player who has been concussed cannot continue to play! Sky's Phil Clarke seemed more concerned for Bird's safety than Ben Reynolds, who was nursing a broken Nose from Bird's 'tackle'
Jamie has pleaded guilty to Intentional use of his Elbow on Tom Hemingway. that is a cowardly act to commit on an opponent and he does not have my support this time!
To Jamie I would advise you take a serious look at where you are as Rugby Player, IMO you have the ability to go right to the top of our game and, I would like that to be with Leigh however, only you can turn this around?
The balls in your court Jamie.
