| Here is a different M62 view. I hope things work out in N America, its good for the sport we all profess to love. In Argyle you have a seriously rich bloke who could buy SL without blinking, he loves his RL and a Canadian then NY franchise soon would be great for our sport as we must expand in the right country's to attract the tv income we deserve on viewing figures by getting multiple broadcasters interested. It will take a decade to get Canadian players to SL standard, so do whatever needs to be done to make this journey a success

In a discussion with a typical pessimistic Englishman? Opposing views make for better threads

| Indeed, apparently the desperate (UK) RFL would like a team from the planet Mars in OUR league by 2030...hope it happens, always wanted to go there.

| Quote: Krzzystuff "Again it's all about the facts here.
We released Rhys Jacks grudgingly as we weren't able to get him classified as a Canadian player, he is Aussie and is the captain of the Wolverines as a heritage player, as we have a signing coming and we needed the quota for foreign players. Tom Dempsey is the other player who got released and is another Oz who plays for the Wolverines though his Heritage.
Quinn Nagwati is still part of the team, i believe he might get loaned out as he is only 18 and needs to develop still through regular game time and the Championship might be too much too soon in an aspiring team looking for promotion.
But you did get it right that we released some Canadian players so keep up the effort!'"
First of all Krzzystuff welcome to the forum.
As highlighted above, thats a very difficult age without a under 19's structure to accommodate him.
Something the UK game with trying to promote the game via SL lost contact with, along with other youth/reserve projects abandoned in the name of a specific TV broadcaster which in fairness saved the game but as now become the demise of the game.
We now have Clubs like Bradford,Halifax,Sheffield and even London who are all fighting to survive in the game, the list just continues. Wakefield are in turmoil with their ground and who knows what will happen with Salford!
You are a fan of a team that has money to burn, but the clubs above also had the same at some point.
Even we Leigh! Where gone at one point and the collection buckets were out!
Over the years we have seen things put in place restricting clubs from progressing in the name of expansion, the Super league door was closed for a decade to Championship.
The lower tiers have always been treated unfairly,be that by the governing body,TV broadcaster or expansion.
Welcome to Rugby League.

Well let's hope that the NA market can bring in some much needed money to the competition as the English game is in dire need of it with the new NRL wages. Also the money needs to be spread to all the divisions so there isn't such a massive quality gap between the tiers.
New to the sport and especially to the unique RFL fan viewpoints but I do have high hopes for the sport growing over in NA and don't think we will go the way of previous expansion efforts as we started from the bottom, have great corporate sponsorships and most importantly a passionate fan of the game with deep pockets.
Argyle isn't in this for the money and Perez is apparently on a mission from the founding father's of RL to ensure that the game gets the recognition it deserves.
I understand that a lot of fans are doubtful as they have seen this fail many times before but I will be positive and seeing as you are the team to beat next season I'll do my best to bust your guys chops!
If anyone is coming over for the game in Canada let me know as I'm planning on going the games against you, Toulouse and the home opener.
Cheers and may you finish a strong second!

Well if a strong second, gets us a home tie against you in the middle 8's (should we be in them 201icon_cool.gif then finishing first doesn't always benefit you. We know,we've been there and worn the T shirt. See you in Blackpool..

typically ignorant Leyther who couldn't name 10 Canadians without the use of Google and is yet able to stereotype an entire nation. Back in the real world, Canadians are well-known and respected all around the world for not being American

I see you've found our home site , and met some of our supporters , everybody is welcome at Leigh both physically and virtually , don't worry about upsetting some of the natives , some would have an argument in an empty room
Like Maurice I also hope that Toronto do succeed and that as you suggest money does enter and filter down , although I have my doubts
If I bump into ' Eric ' , I will be asking him what his plans ( long term ) were for Leigh when they tried to buy us , if of course he offers an honest answer
Anyway all the best , no doubt bump into you on t'uther site
