Maybe that's why we don't win much

Well both main H/B are relatively unproven to play consistently at SL level, not really convinced with the backup options. And no, they didn't look out of place in the 8s, but doing that week in week out is completely different IMO

| I wonder, how hard & long have we/the Club looked at our amateur Clubs Miners & East ?
With Saints reportedly signing 2 from those clubs, what have they seen that we didn't & are we looking at other SL Clubs service areas, Blackbrook etc ?
I know this won't help initially to secure status in SL but thinking long term.

Well we're having a reserve team aren't we ?? Need to get a lot of people from somewhere that's for sure. Think I read somewhere that may well be part of Purtills remit

Over 50 years of pain, pleasure, frustration, joy, heartache and ecstasy that supporting Leigh has given me but I would not swop it.: |
|
| Only one priority next season is to stay in SL and then start rebuilding the 1st team support mechanism re reserve grade ,this will not be done over night. I'm convinced there are a lot of good disenchanted players already at SL clubs who may fancy there chances at Leigh re getting a break in the first team add to these a few amateur prospects and we are on the right path but it won't happen without hard work and patience.

953.jpg 2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!:953.jpg |

Don't think we are having a reserve team next season. I am sure I read that as a quote from DB.

| I think the focus changed to long term planning as in academy structures and which is the more viable structure as a club going forward. Reserve team was ruled out short term as we wouldn't be in a position to compete in that.

Its ok having no reserve team but how do we keep squad players match fit,Loan periods of a month could leave us very short on man power if we get an injury crisis

| It could be argued prop, using a reserve team to keep players fit or gaining fitness, isn't a part of the modern game with the way medical science has gone with it.Also you could say a SL player isn't going to gain match fitness playing in reserve matches.
I can't see Leigh loaning out players,I can see Dual Reg though.

| Quote: Bent&Bongser "So, Mo, an FB making, say, 6 per game wouldn't be a plus? Our line is likely to be broken a good few times early next season (but hopefully less so as the troops become more SL battle hardened). For the record, I've always liked McNally and I hope that it works out for him.
Some sheeite defence in front of him if a FB averages 6 tackles per game unless you propose a few minutes as hooker to get the average up. At that average I suggest we need some forwards who can tackle a lot more than a FB

Correct we don't know, but neither do many clubs. Wigan used to play O'loughlin at stand off on many occasions, we have Patterson and Stewart for that role, Leeds did the same with Sinfield, Saints with Wilkin. Three teams who have monopolized the GF in the past decade? I do rate Reynolds, also believe he will be a potential FB also. Will be fun watching things unfold, who steps up who gets overwhelmed etc
