| Details of the case and his appeal on TRL forum - case against him overwhelming - his ban will not be overturned.
He has always tested negative in the past he should have just complied, despite the annoyance of tester coming to his house at night

| What is strange is why was he allowed to continue playing for four months
If he's failed to do a test surely he would be banned straightaway
One of my favourite players who have played for the club
I wish him all the best
Having read all the case notes will be unlikely he's getting anywhere
Such a shame as he's deffo no drug cheat

Having seen the video Sam originally posted I think this is really strange
He carried on playing for four months after and despite the police being called he wasn't charged with assault
Something is not right with all of this but Sam is going to tell the whole story soon and until then I wish him well and I'm sure the club are helping him .
too many tragic events have happened with players in the past because they didn't get the support so it's important Sam is supported and helped through what must be an awful time'"
As has been mentioned I do not for one minute think that Sam Barlow is a drugs cheat, thats from people who know him and also from his physique(you can tell the top candidates who are likely on the juice pretty easily), but he has lost his career trying to protect people, whether that is out of loyalty or out of fear, only he knows.
Josh posted the following on Facebook:- Never evaded never refused or never failed a test......
Full support for my brother. The truth will come out to how my brother has been treated and let down.
Please respect his wishes

What on earth does that mean?
So Barlow wasn't on drugs, yet he deliberately threw away his career by refusing to take a drugs test (that he would have passed) in order to protect somebody else?
So who was he protecting that would have somehow suffered as a result of Sam Barlow not failing a drugs test?

He may not have been found guilty of doping by UKAD but the way it all reads about how the evening played out will have many people wondering. Also atomic that is not the result of the high Court appeal which is yet to happen.'"
As far as I'm aware Demon, the court was awaiting the outcome of the UKAD hearing before passing sentence. The fact he's took the standard 4 year length ban for the violation,I would say punishment has been dealt.
GFB..The doping officer in question could have gone to any players abode. Why did he pick Barlow?

| That's what I fecking said.....and you reckon the sentence of the criminal court for his common assault conviction will be nothing because he has been banned from sport for 4 years?

Why is this awful time for him if he would of answered the door like normal people do when there is a nock at it I am sure the doping officer would of made it clear who he was and had shown ID then Sam if nothing to hide would of said come in took the test past it and still be playing for us end of.........

| I challenge anyone to read all the documentation surrounding this case which is openly available on the UKAD website and feel sorry for him.

Yes,thats what you said to Oggy.My reply was referring to what you said to me.

Seeing as sentencing hasn't been passed yet, what exactly is being appealed? As for the common assault conviction,he verbally abused someone. They will throw the key away.

| Thought my reply was to you but Oggys post went in between.
The appeal is the high Court appeal planned by Barlow against the UKAD ruling. Maybe doing a bit of reding would help. Goodbye on this thread.

| Well I did read that, but I didn't take the word "planned" as being official confirmation of an appeal being lodged.I took that as being his briefs words not his own.Suppose time will tell.

After reading the documentation here's what I think.
I think he was thoroughly peed off that he was being targeted for testing again despite never having given a positive result and more so that they had turned up in the evening when he was (once again) at home, so he decided to make things as difficult as he could for the tester and come up with a cock and bull story about him being a burglar. Obviously this all then backfired on him horribly when, after all the fuss and aggravation had died down, UKAD refused to allow him to do the test, and even more so when the police pressed charges on him regarding the 'assault'. Unfortunately once he'd got caught up in the lie (and involved his partner), he couldn't then back down and admit that he was just being awkward and obstructive because he was fed up of being tested.
Obviously I don't know all the facts, and I might be totally off the mark but I don't think I am. Do I feel sorry for him? Yes I do, I feel really sad and sorry that he made the terrible decision to lie and then found that he couldn't then get out of it and which has now ultimately ruined his career. None of us are perfect and I'm sure that most of us, at some point in our lives have made a bad decision, so yes I feel really sorry for him, especially as he seemed to be enjoying himself at Leigh and was playing brilliantly. I just hope that someone is looking after him and his state of mind.
Good luck for the future Sam.

| Well thats one way of looking at it...
My opinion is slightly different based on the published information. On the subject of 'refusing to allow him to have the test' they possibly thought there wasn't much point as his actions had already contravened the regulations and were subject to the same sanctions as a failed drug test. Also the time the tester turned up would be at a time that Sam himself would have provided to UKAD as when and where he would be. The tester had ID and showed it, this point must have been accepted by the police who DID NOT arrest the man for burglary

| I don't disagree with any of the above, I'm just saying that in the heat of the moment he decided to play silly beggars and it has cost him dearly.
