Why would you need a loan agreement for a shirt sponsorship deal?

How do you manage to run a Full Time team on crowds of a few hundred though? London have a public backer but who is putting all the money in at Sheffield, somebody is obviously putting some serious funding into them. Is it known who is funding them or is it some sort of secret?

Not sure about Sheffield, they are by all accounts paying peanuts. Which is why all their best players are now at Fev and Batley.

They do fairly well with corporate sponsorships and have a link with SHU. Their wage bill will be less than half what yours is. (compare the quality of the two squads).

London have David Hughes bankrolling them.

Which leaves you and Bradford anywhere near the salary cap.

I am sure that all the corporate sponsors love coming down for the ultimate corporate VIP experience of watching the Eagles play (badly) on the local school field!

Ryan Brierley must have been one of the highest paid players in the Championship. We now have that cap space to play with plus a nice bit of spare cash from Hudds for him.

We should have plenty room left. I am pretty happy with our squad for now though. The pack is scary and the halves are strong. Backline has been a merry go round due to injuries but when we get some settled players in there we should get better.

If we are going to strengthen anywhere for me it should be a winger. Kay is brilliant, best in the league for me. Pownall has improved out of sight and is probably the biggest improvement since we moved to full time. Unfortunately both have been injured recently more often than not. Higson is having a poor season so far and I am not sure his future is as a winger.

How about Fev? They have a small squad but have brought a few players who might be high up on the part time championship player wage bill list. They were also the only team(part time one anyway) who could afford to pay some transfer fees and by all accounts they offered Widnes more to take Danny Craven on loan that what Fax could offer to take him permanent. Either that or Leigh have simply copied the Koukash play book and poundland Koukash has been caught with his pants down.

Not necessarily. There is still a max percentage of relevant income allowable for all teams up to a maximum amount. So if relevant income is low, then you can soon run out of space. I also know a current Sheffield player was in discussion with leigh a few seasons back and he was on a big contract that leigh couldn't match. Wasn't it only a few weeks ago the club emailed the rfl for an increase on our cap to extend it for Brierley which they agreed, albeit after the leaving story was broke on sky. Would be strange if a couple of weeks after they had an issue with it.

Speaking of "naughty boys" I notice Bradley Knowles-Tagg is playing for Featherstone again.

After he was sacked for racist abuse against a fellow RL player a Fev official stated:

"Racism has no place in sport or society and Featherstone Rovers will not condone or tolerate behaviour such as this.

As soon as we were made aware of the allegations, we suspended the player and he has had, and will not have, any involvement with Featherstone Rovers."

Was surprised to see him back on the team sheet after such a damning statement.

Wasn't it also a Fev player last season who said on twitter that he wanted to buy a pint for the player who had put McNally in the hospital? I believe it was.
