Quote: Nozzy "Well I was in the North Stand today so I have no idea what happened.
I don't think the ball got anywhere near us. I watched the entire game from over 100 yards away and find it hard to praise or call Leigh/Hull/Thaler as the entire match took place a mile away from where I was stood.
Will watch it back on SKY before I give an opinion. Should have watched through binoculars for all the rugby I saw today. So frustrating!
The KR fans in the South Stand must have got their monies worth!!'"

We will learn from this.
If we don't then we deserve to stay where we are.
1 game lost, 6 to go, still 12 points to play for - the odd thing was I didn't really expect to win, sure KR might have had a Cup hangover but I prefer to think they got to keep their intensity up.
With Kelly not playing it seemed we had a slightly better chance but after that 1st half it was a very uneasy mix of joy of the way we played and facing another 40 minutes of playing sensible stuff.
That didn't happen.
I thought Tommy was immense in defence and deserved his MoM along with AJ and Greg W. Dixon played a very good game with the exception of that missed tackle that lead to KR's first score of the 2nd half and Higham is playing with a massive amount of fire in his belly.
Barlow and especially Hoppy were excellent and I hope the with Sam H limping off it isn't too serious.
There were points in the game where it was all very daft - and yet again either some don't hear/see the ref signal its the 5th tackle or they just like playing into no space whatsoever is a sensible tactic.
People were very wistful in the North Stand with lines like "its the way we play" - it is indeed, but heads need to be engaged sometimes.
And stop feeding the trolls, it is lovely that they spend time in their hectic schedules to post countless new threads gloating about 1 loss but these things quite easily drop off the first page and into oblivion when not responded too.
Long and short of it is, winning today would have been difficult, it turned out it was, next up is Salford and we'll pick ourselves up for that and kick on.

Not a bad post Deek, But if we are professional enough to get into SL, then we simply should not have let that first half lead slip no matter what.

| I must say before KO I didn't expect us to win, but that said we will never have a better chance to beat SL opposition - 18 points up and they're missing both their playmakers.
The second half performance was just dumb. The last thing we wanted was that early Dixon score but we could have weathered that save for one after another stupid penalties (Hock in particular), turning the ball over cheap and early and poor kicking. I'd like to know what the 2nd half possession stats were.
Armstrong - can he actually pass? Throwing the ball in touch in our 10m area was diabolical, and its not the first time he's done it, he did it v Salford in the RLCC.
I said on here after the Bradford game that there's a time for high risk/high reward rugby and a time for up the jumper and kick, which IMO the early part of the 2nd half was crying out for. Seems we still haven't learned.

Good post Pat. And for me, whether people like it or not, Pala would be playing in that centre role without a shadow of a doubt.

| Yes, we blew it. However, for me the second half was an object lesson in how to starve a team of possession. We could hardly get our hands on the ball, and had to tackle, tackle, tackle for virtually 40 minutes. That's when tiredness kicks in, penalties are conceded, precious possession given away, and scores inevitably conceded too.
Think back to the second quarter of the game - surely that's exactly what happened to Rovers? Unfortunately, half time came at a bad time for us! Yes, we must be kicking ourselves, at seeing an 18 point lead disappear, but credit to Rovers who proved, in that second half, that they are a better team than we are. Personally, I don't see anything more sinister and complicated than that.
Sure, we now have to perform against Salford, Wakefield, and our Championship counterparts. But wasn't that always the case?

| I don't post a great deal , however can I say full marks to our boys for that as I think Leigh play the game magnificently well , I truly would like to think you have earned promotion over the last 2 years efforts and if our sport was more fairer you would be auto promotion at the expense of the bottom super league side , it is outrageous that now at the business end we have no half backs and our efforts in the cup have created a big distraction and we find ourselves on equal pts with a side we had 12 more than a week ago, and you have to go head to head with on massive cap difference and Aussie quotas etc , truly all the best and hope we are both in the top flight as by crikey you deserve it. Respect

| Before KO, I wouldn't have put money our win.
I expected a hard game from you lads.
First half you had the game, especially with the score just before HT. A 40 min performance I have seen many times for us away - awful.
YOU let us in in the second half and we played to an average standard.
Hock was a liabilty, Anderson lacked nouse. I suspect you are used to just rolling on and not thinking about consoldiating.
A game you lost, rather than us winning. Good luck for the rest of your games.

| 2 words sum it all up for you guys today, Game Management. It was a great game for a neutral to watch, and I do not think that you are far off. My observations of watching the few televised Leigh games show, in my opinion, that you have 2 liabilities on the field in Hock and Moi Moi. Brierley also needs to step up when things get tough. Any half decent halfback can shine behind a pack going forwards and quick play the ball. The really good halfs can do it when the chips are down. He went missing in the second half when the pressure was on. This, I feel sure, will come with more experience in tough games, but over the last couple of years he hasn't been under any real pressure on a regular basis. Your toughest game is now out of the way, and so learn from the mistakes in the second half (which I think you are good enough to do quickly) and I can't see any reason why you still can't make SL for next season. Good team to watch, but entertainment won't get you too far when you have regular SL opposition - good game management will. One question I have is that if you don't make SL will you be able to keep the team together for next year or will poachers come picking off the better players? Good luck for the rest of the 8's, and I hope you don't mind me coming on here posting.

| I've thought all along that the four superleague teams in the middle 8's this year will be the the four superleague teams next year. Sorry but bar two or three players your team is very average and is not used to playing 80 minutes at superleague level. Also your devil may care gameplan plays right into the hands of higher calibre teams. Championship again for you again next year i'm afraid.

| We're not all like some rovers fans on here gloating etc cokey, as our coach said "best team lost" and rovers fans know it, we had an 18-4 half time lead at Salford a few weeks back and lost 18-31 , momentum is hard to stop sometimes. Glad your on TV a few times as I love watching you and see so many parallels from our 2006 season in you.

| Watched it live and watched it again and it is even more painful second time round. After saying that one more score would see us in Super League we self destructed, it was bloody awful. Some of the previous posters are so biased in their support they should actally watch the game, they are embarrassing; we got stuffed.
We only had to play a containing game in the second half we were winners but we were e in the second half. Defensively we weren't that bad but offensively we were awful, we could have outscored HKR and won comfortably but our left flack was poor.
Armstrong was dire, Moi Moi is a Championship bully, Hock was back to liability mode and Brierley was absent, the rest did OK but harsh decisions for Rowley & Co. Can still reach SL but today was a missed opportunity.

That's exactly it. They all go on about how they play great rugby but, that's at championship level where you can. We, in 2006, played like the Harlem globetrotters. Scoring points for fun, because you can at that level when your the top dog. If Leigh are promoted. I guarantee that philosophy of throwing the ball anywhere will disappear. Unless you sign the whole Leeds team.
We are a very attractive high scoring SL team on our day. When all are fit. Main problem this season for us has been consistency and injuries.
Still feel you have a half chance of going up, but think the week in, week out intensity step up could be a little to much for you. I'd predict a 5th placed finish, play the million pound game and who knows.... One off game and anythings possible against what will probably be a nervous SL team who will be doubting themselves.
