| I took Dylan to the game and he was so chuffed because he got a wave and smile from Fui and saw JP , even from the disabled gantry, i found myself sitting next to Ben's sister and i can tell you he is a well supported lad
I thought Wigans handling was awful at times and that cost them the game, now that could be a result of pressure from us or natural risk when playing "friendlies" (trying people in unfamiliar positions, not quite gelling or up to speed or using fringe players alongside regular 1st teamers). Some people have said Fui didn't break a tackle , but did you see how many bodies he attracted when he received the ball, so when he gets the ball out in a tackle you can imagine the gaps in opposition defense all in all i thought it was a terrific performance against high quality opposition that 3/4 through the 2nd half was still to close to call but we played the full 80 mins and got our rewards. I thought Kay was deffo the MOM and closely followed by ben who had an outstanding debut, boy did our team look well drilled

| Thought we played really well in the first 40mins, strong , confident and self assured and you'd have struggled to tell it was pre season.
Moimoi was attracting 4 players yesterday and I suspect he's nowhere near as fit as he'd want to be yet.
Thought all our forwards 'looked the part' and I think it will be a good team that bosses them this season.
2nd half we threw out some daft passes / poor options and constantly gifted possession, luckily Wigan also showed how rusty they are as well and thus didn't punish our mistakes.
Lots for Rowley and the team to improve on but for large parts of the game we looked a very good team.
A very enjoyable afternoon out.

| What a great win, by a team who wanted it more and I liked the way Leigh showed no respect to a classy wigan outfit. My motm was Lee Kay and his battle with Charnley made great viewing, a hat trick is no easy feat against an international winger. My 2nd and 3rd choice go to the two players who got us around the park - Reynolds and Beswick. Reynolds sneaking it with a brilliant display of kicking, how many back to back sets did we have from his skill? Leigh still need to improve on the first 30 mins of 2nd half were the sets were not completed and first tackle mistakes made playing the game in the wrong area when it comes to territory. The other thing that frustrates me is the lack of discipline, I dont like to see a Leigh player patting an oppositions players head when he's made a mistake. Only causes aggro and a potential penalty against Leigh - a need to be more professional.

| Really enjoyed the game. Nice to see we are still wanting to and prepared to play attacking rugby irrespective of field position and tackle count. Yes it's frustrating when it doesn't come of, but think how many teams of that standard will we play for the rest of the year. At least 5 times we would have probably have scored against other teams.

| What turned out to be 'daft passes and poor options', to me was us trying to play the expansive rugby regardless of field position, something we all want to see, ok they didn't come off but that gives PR and co something to work on and when all's said and done it was a friendly where else should we try things? It also shows how confident the lads have in their defensive abilities. We did make some breaks which against lesser opposition we'd probably have scored.
One thing that we should do is stop Penky kicking he's missed touch on previous occasions.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| The point of the turnover of possession isnt knock ons and similar skill mistakes, its basic decision making, having already having been forced into touch 3 times in the 1 st half ,to be giving the opposition that opportunity again 20 yards from your own line after consequtive turnovers shouldnt happen, let alone missing touch
Lets hope for a 3 week freeze now to bring Bradford underdone to the LSV

That's how we play. We have a tram who play what they see and are encouraged by their coach to play what they see and go for it, not desensitised rugby where you don't pass because it's the first tackle or its not the set play. Point in case, tackle 3 of the game we gave it hands down the line in our own 25 and made a mini break through Worthington. You won't find that in any textbook. We scored twice at least last season doing thaton tackle 1 of the game. It's how we play.

AGREE 100% .Should not happen,we did not learn after the first time.Kay was trying to outpace Charnley, and pace is the only thing he possesses.

That's the whole point of a freindly. The move works as he got on his outside and had the chance. In our division it's most likely a try as who would be as quick as Charney. A friendly is about testing the moves and combinations to see if they work. This time last year we lost to a wigan side not as good as the one we played yesterday and we had an amazing season, already the signs this year are better.

Attacking play especially at home is a must, I've criticised Paul in the past for playing too conservatively, however as I put, once you've turned over possession 2-3 times in a row in your own third of the pitch, logically you need a rest, you get that by completing a set
We nearly lost the game because of it

I get that, but it didn't. At that time, one was a dropped pass from the base of a scrum, that was disappointing, and not finding touch with a penalty kick, that too. On the others, at the time it frustrated, but would rather go for it and not work out, than not try and go for it, but accept there are different ways of doing it.

Again not criticising knock ons, especially in the 1 st match of the year, just that good habits and reading a game are needed if SL is to be gained, RL is an unforgiving sport and momentum is critical, breaking up opposition momentum is important, as I said, it nearly cost us the game , albeit a friendly, but it felt much better to win than a honorable defeat

| The way we play asks plenty questions of the opposition, pushing the ball wide in our own 20m is one of the reasons we have been so successful, and a pleasure to watch. When you have the outside backs we now have it would be silly to stop doing it, we just need refs to make a decent 10m

I know its reported Cas have first chance to offer him a 2016 contract however, he is our player so make the offer now! we don't owe Cas owt they didn't hesitate to offer Millward a contract halfway through our season did they!'"
Thought they said it was an RFL rule that because he's from their academy they've got to have 1st refusal on him. Hope they do show the lack of foresight they showed with Brierly though & let us keep him, or he decides he's better off with us.
Quote: kirkhall " Some people have said Fui didn't break a tackle
I noticed that, every time he got the ball w!g@n had at least 3 men on him straight away. He's going to attract some attention from opposition players & if he can get some offloads away or a quick pass just before they get to him we'll really be able to make some good breaks.

It was slightly annoying to end up in touch so much but it happened to both sides. No one was going to get anywhere down the middle so both teams had to throw it out wide, being so slippy lots of players ended up being shoved into touch, doubt it'll be a problem when the weather dries up.
