To be honest I actually really rated Willie Swann.

We all know he’s not even played a game.

We all know he’ll not play 80 mins. I doubt he’ll even play in some games.

We all know etc etc

However, for me the hype needs to go into overdrive, years ago we built a fantastic stadium and wasted the opportunity. With a relatively young squad, playing entertaining RL we’ve just had our best season for God knows how long, this has been backed it up by going full time, and now by signing one of the most recognised named players in the current World of RL, lets not let this one pass us by, lets milk it for all we can.

It was just a Statement , Ian Potter was also a decent signing first time round ,I don't think he was that good when we signed him along with Brian Case .As for Stephenson a waste of money IMO , he was only signed because of his next door neighbour .I agree that Fui Fui , has raised Leighs profile in the World and National press , which can only be a good thing , but I wont comment till he has made around 10-12 appearances for us .

Untill moi moi has played any games he cant even come in the reckoning because remember when wally lewis went Wakefield he was rubbish but at the time was one of the best in the world,but I would say moi moi would be one of the best for publicity because when has leigh had this much exposure on both sides of the world,which in my opinion could get alot of the lost fans at least interested in having a look at what the're missing

Agreed, my workmate who lives in Liverpool, supports Everton 'doesn't watch ANY form of Rugby' said to me on Monday "who's that rugby player Leigh have signed, was on the local news yesterday ?"

Thats all very well, but in February will he come and ask you if he played well in your first game or will he have forgotten. All this national press is good for Leigh, the championship and RL. But its only December and the league start still over 2 month off. What are a Leigh gonna do to ensure the hype continues and that people don't just forget about it.

Ye but the thing is a signing like moi moi has got alot of people in leigh curious that have stopped going,as well as promotion this coming season and winning the league (also the club have started to go into all the schools promoting the club and getting alot of kids wanting to go watching leigh and with the deal on kids season tickets their parents might start taking them down to lsv,if only 100 extra parents take their kids its been a success) iv never know as much interest in people round leigh about the up and coming season in the last 10 years and that includes when we went in superleague

That, plus when we come to do paid promotions, people have recent memories of us making a positive splash. That makes the marketing more noticeable and thus more effective.

It is about right that Murphy should be considered as being Leigh's greatest signing, but in my eyes the player who gave more pure enjoyment to the fans by giving 100% plus in every game he played was Peter Smethurst.

A truly great professional who enjoyed every minute of every game he played.

Peter the Butcher Smethurst was a real hard man played the game with a smile on his face really nice bloke and a great loose forward not many got past Smethy
