With respect, I most certainly would have raised the question - probably in a 'Communications' Meeting. However, I am no longer a member of that forum and have raised the question in the public domain, because it is an issue that concerns me. If you read my posts, you will still see that I praise the club, when praise is due, but I am entitled to criticise, when I feel like it.

It is a simple and straightforward question, that I ask - or are we only allowed to ask questions that lavish praise upon the people who make the decisions?

By the way, the reason that I ask it, in the week of a 'massive' game, is that it surely is an issue that affects that game.

As for people in 'official roles' (or former 'official roles') making comments on here, there appear to be at least two members of the BOM also making comments, criticising individuals for expressing an opinion.

It would appear that it is ok for members of the BOM to post critical opinions, but not ordinary, concerned supporters.

There was nothing wrong with the original thread and in hindsight it should have just been the post s referring to the flute sing that went .
However it was right I think as the majority of posters asked for the thread to go , in fact no one asked for it to stay

Does anyone ask for any threads to stay ? And exactly how many people make up this moral majority who wanted it removed???

Does it matter it gone, move on and lets look forward to the game, or start another thread about the original title.
I'm all for freedom of speech but the thread was getting silly and I thought I was doing the right thing......

So are we saying that if there had been another thread containing the latter part of the original one, that would have been deleted? Personally I don't think any of it should be deleted.

People need to think that someone seeing the comments about the club condoning the song sheet was not in OUR clubs interest.
It could have had done the club a lot of damage and that is why it had to go, the club have retracted them as they know it was not a good thing to do as a club that has the potential we have ......

Alan as you know if I think that any member of the board posts something untoward I will take action.
As I ve said this is an unofficial forum and people have the right to express their views no matter who they are but I still dont think it does the club any good for people to read on here that someone authorised the song sheets with a reference to the IRA on it.

Sorry to disagree with you here - but yes it does - if as you say it was getting silly a warning followed by locking the thread would have been preferable - as it is I for one have no way of forming my own opinion on the content of a thread - that I was interested in (with regard to the original posters comments) - as it has been unnecessarily 'censored' by removal of the whole thread! Far from 'Freedom of Speech' in my mind.
As has been said this is an 'unofficial' forum and no pressure to censor posters comments should be done due to a few requests that may come from 'official' sources (as this is what people will think) imo.

Here I go again. For the last time. The IRA part isn't the main problem with this song. It is mindless, meaningless it is offensive and promotes hatred for another club. If people think that this is ok for it to be the club song they really should give their heads a shake. It's not just a song it is being promoted as the club anthem. Where in any other club sport do they have a club song with these feelings. A club anthem should be about the love of your club and it's players.

People who think I would take it off because an official source asked me to don't know me very well at all .

If the club has retracted the said song sheets - which I hope they have not - do you not think that this could have been due to the comments on this forum - comments that should be allowed to remain as they are valid comments on an unofficial forum. No way is this a reason for deleting a valid thread which is of interest to many.

I will ask someone official for advise on this ......

In my business ideas are often discussed and some agreed as actions, sometimes the implementation goes wrong and sometimes we catch it before distribution, but from each we learn something. It seems the leaflets have been withdrawn, with Blake Solly our guest and some high profile corporate sponsors it would be great if this just died a death without a public court martial followed by stoning on the town hall steps.

I am looking forward so much to Sunday, I am enjoying discussing the game, the players, the crowd and the craic with all sorts of folk, lets focus on the positives of an unbeaten start, big crowd increases and making that top two ie what unites us.

Can't wait for Sunday, and together we will reach our potential.

So my assertion was indeed correct then, you would not have posted what you did in the public domain had you not resigned from your voluntary post.

Nail on head Neil,

Many people have been really pro active this week with all kinds of things happening for the betterment of the match day experience. The song sheet I believe was intended for the right reasons and in eagerness to get out a member of the team jumped the gun slightly (again I stress doing so for the right reasons). Because we have our finger on the pulse we have the ability to react fast and did so and the song sheets have been pulled. No real halm done and we can push on looking forward to a great game between the two best clubs and teams outside of SL.
