It was a great day from arriving to a packed out legends bar, to leaving seeing everyone smiling.
I must say that Sharon Dillion deserves a mention fro the hard work she is doing with the junior Centurions, it was great to see more kids knocking about, the hard work will pay off eventually .
As said on another thread they need a family section in one of the stands.
Can someone not give Clive the mic on pitch side again too

I don't know about the rest of you but I could hardly hear the match announcer at all and I totally missed the 'running out' music. Admittedly the crowd was very loud but I've always been able to hear it before and I particularly wanted to hear it because it's new music.

On the plus side the team were awesome; a bit slow to get going but once they kicked into gear - wow!!

Also I received my daughters Junior Centurion pack from Sharon - so well done to everyone who had a hand in putting it all together, my daughter loves it. (unfortunately she can't come to games because I'm over in the East Stand and obviously she's not allowed over there. It's a shame really because she's always mithering to come). icon_sad.gif

The north stand was bouncing at times, when we broke out into a song and everyone was singing it gave me goosebumps, and you could see the players reacting to this, Wilkes and Barlow acknowledged our singing, like said before it can only act as a positive as it really gets the lads going! not sure if anyone had noticed but every game the north stand seems to get more and more packed, the side of the north stand that barely has anyone in it is gradually attracting more people. When we play the likes of Fev and Fax I think we can expect close to the 2500 mark. Absolutley buzzing after yesterdays performance, big things ahead!!

I am absolutely delighted with the result that try when McNally broke down the Wing to pass to Higson who went under the posts was magnificent also who would like to try and stop spencer in full flight I know I wouldn't , but I'm with Mish about the tannoy system, either the feed to the north stand is broken or the announcer is under the influence

Well played Leigh, you look a quality side, as for us, well nobody beat us last year like that and to suffer such a defeat in the first game was gutting, onwards and upwards though and hope we give you a sterner test at the Mount.

Was an excellent performance by everyone. Sure Batley will be up there by the end but we've got the players and the game plan to beat them like we did. Thought Higson had a fantastic game and should be 1st choice winger. Littler was man of the match for me, set up a few good trys and breaks, worked well in defence and gave 100%. One slight, smallest thing is I'd like Brown to believe in himself a bit more, a few times he got the ball and instead of just putting his foot down along the wing (Higson broke through some incredibly small gaps right out on the touchline) he stopped and came back inside, needs a bit more faith in himself.

Was tricky 2 pick a mom from Sunday but that was because all of our players went well.

I think for eg Greg McNally has been reading my posts about who should be our fullback because that break he made for the 100 yard try was outstanding.

Ryan Duffy too must read my posts because I have been posting for a long time about how I think he will get better season by season.

I remember our teams under Paul Tersiz of course and they played some good stuff but they could not compete with our current team.

Remember Batley are a very good Championship side and did not play badly but the Leythers are capable of getting even better as everyone will see as this season goes on.

For those who went you must have been very impressed after last Sundays game. icon_biggrin.gif

We're doing our best to sort out the issues - the solution is proving elusive so far, and the biggest issue is that we only seem to have problems when the stadium has a reasonable number of spectators in.

If anyone wants a listen to the intro music, you can listen here:

Sounds just like the music Wigan come out to. Arrghhh! What happend to the piece from last season? Used to send a tingle down the spine as the lads came out and was very classy.

Thanks for that Michael, it sounds great. icon_thumb.gif

I know what you're saying about the sound levels because when the stadium is empty and we're doing the sound checks for the radio/LCTV broadcast, the music is really loud but when the running out/try music is being played later on, it always seems much quieter.

It's pretty loud in the West Stand! Yet when the announcer starts to talk, the sound sometimes 'breaks up'. To me, it often seems to be a fault in new stadia. Technology, eh?!

The performance was outstanding, I had some concerns after the friendlies about our defence, they would seem to be unfounded now. The lads did really well, stunning way to start the season.
As for the tannoy, it was particularly annoying on Sunday as I had arranged a shout out for my daughters birthday at half time and have no idea if it was read out or not, couldn't hear anything clearly in the North Stand.

The tannoy system is a huge area of concern for myself and many people at present. The club as a whole have made miraculous progress over the last 8 months and the end product on the pitch last Sunday was fantastic to watch.

However, the tannoy has been constantly unreliable since we played our first game at the LSV. The match day announcer has the most difficult, yet extremely important job in the ground on the day. He is the focal point for everything that is happening at the club and the interface with all fans. When he has to constantly battle issues with his mic and comms it looks amateurish and inevitably impacts on his overall performance and ability to create a rapport with the crowd. A few first time visitors have commented on this to myself over the last few years and I assumed that the LSV would have had it sorted by now!

Do they have the same issues at Blackburn Reserve games? During the RL World Cup game were there any issues?? I don't know because I couldn't attend. If there wasn't, then what are we doing wrong on matchdays?

The cheerleaders and the flags all looked really smart also and great to see the kids being involved. I think it would be better for them to stand in a wide 'V' shape from the tunnel though as al the players by-passed their guard of honour on Sunday and only a couple ran through it (which was a shame as it looked really, really smart).

I had a brilliant day on Sunday and felt priviliged to see my home team play a style of RL i haven't witnessed for a long time, culminating in some unbelievable tries. I know EVERYBODY at the club is trying so hard to make matchday the best it can be and this is not a cheap shot at anybody. Its an observation by myself and others which I hope can be resolved to enable the matchday experience to become even more professional and allow us to stand out when we reach the Top. icon_thumb.gif
