I should have checked the rfl one was uptodate.... it wasn't....Alans figure of 1 pt difference is correct. If we mess up against dewsbury the playoffs look completely different. Ie we won't have the safety net of being able to lose our first game.

I am sure our players will be smarting to get back to winning ways on September 1.

With all due respect to Dewsbury I can't see past anything but a comfortable Leigh victory.

I don't think Batley played well, they just worked their ground better than we did, they only really scored from our errors so no panic just dust off and win against Dewsbury, then get ready to show we can perform well in the play offs !!

Charlie thought the team played well today , especially in the second half oing up the slope , the pressure we put on the Bullfrogs was very strong , but their tackling was very good , still its not the end of the world , a earned a Bonus point which should see us finish in 4th place .

I thought Riddy had a blinder , it was good to see him pointing to the Club badge on his chest and kissing it , other mentions for Pownall , Spenner , and Tommy G ,we let in 3 soft tries from missed tackles , Gardner and Ostick should never have allowed their 3rd try , Thornley did drop the ball which led to the Bullfrogs winning try , but that's Rugby , everybody drops balls at times .

All in all I think we will still figure strongly in the play-offs , hopefully a GF appearance , bring on the Dews , and before I forget , Welcome Back Trevor though Charlie Knows you've never been away .

I'd like to see us creating more chances and converting them into tries. Apart from a good second half against Whitehaven, out recent attacking performances haven't been as sharp as before the NRC final.

As a neutral I think you need to take off your rose tinted spectacles and lose the 'Wigan' arrogance....how dare little old Batley beat mighty Leigh ?? They dominated the majority of the game and in the second half until Ridyard kicked long from the 20 metre tap you had hardly got into their half until the last ten/fifteen minutes.
give them some credit where it is due.......don't blame the slope or the pitch you had it in the first half....it has not affected you winning there in the last two seasons......
I am trying to recall your mistakes that was the only reason Batley scored from....or should we class Brierley's try as the defence made a mistake leaving a gap for him to go through....was gardner's try due to a mistake that the Batley player didn't jump high enough or was pownall's try due to Campbells mistake in allowing him to score from a couple of feet in from touch when he should not have ?
Was Blacks try from Johnsons break due to a mistake ? Or Mennels winner down to a mistake ??
This is a game of decisions, plays and mistakes so please engage your brain before writing such one eyed rubbish.
You were beaten on the night by a team that are no pushovers and looking at the play off format the two teams will meet again probably at your place......I would expect another tight game from two good teams.

Got to agree. To beat a star-studded line-up like Leigh's you can't play anything below your very best.

Big game on Sunday now. Underestimate Dewsbury and it'll be a 5th place finish.

Great post from a neutral, I thought we played great, poster earlier said Ridyard played a blinder ???? All i saw him do was kick, Leighs kick chase on our line was dreadful, they put no pressure on our returning player, having said this the leigh fans were sound and good luck to you except against us.

Bad night at the office. Gave Batley far too many easy yards coming away from their line, especially coming downhill, which limited any sort of field position. Far too many individual errors, and I really wish we'd start to create the sort of breaks on the 40m line that invariably seem to end up in tries or at least good chances for Batley when playing down the slope.

Still confident for Dewsbury but once again we've not made it easy for ourselves.

Charlie thought Riddy had a very good game , I agree his kicking was foremost and he DID put pressure on the Batley line , he tried everything , but the Batley defence was very good last night , the Batley speedier backs caught us out more than once , but all in all it was an even game for most of the 80 minutes , as always the Leigh fans were very vocal , im still a Proud (REAL )Leyther ,non plastic , not even Teflon .
