Your right Walt , we have played 1 game against the best team in the Division , on their ground , OK we took a good hiding , but it happens at time , lets see how the Season pans out ,PR will know he has made a couple of mistakes selection wise , but he didnt miss the tackles ,Saxton had all the time in the world to score his try , and in Crossley and Bostock they have again 2 monsters in the front row .
A couple of small changes positionally and we will be OK .

| Until Coyle's back from injury we have a perfect opportunity to try McNally in't halves & Brierley at FB I just hope Rowley tries it at least once. Nothing will be lost from it as players can be switched if needed & we'll have a extra forward on't bench come on Rowley give it a go please.

Well where ? Who would you play fullback for eg. Who would you play at 7 ? Who would you play at centre and who would you play at 9 and 13 ?
I will leave it to PR he knows our players better than us.

| Quote: Rotherham Fev Fan "Fev were on fire yesterday. Lessons were learned from last year. Criticisms of the two finals were addressed and tho the lads was only two dropped passes from a clean sweep of trophies, it was evident where the team needed strengthening.
Andy Ellis adds some proper zip distributing the ball with Liam Finn in two passess from one side to the other.
In addition, Tommy Hodson adds some real pace we so evidently missed last year. Then Bossy moving to prop has been a revelation in what was already a very strong pack against a leigh pack missing key players.
Given the money spent on recruiting Fev I'm not surprised they are looking good.
But all of us to a man reckon Leigh will finish 2nd. I still think that. Leigh have a decent squad. You just had the misfortune to face fev on a day where we did proper click more so than at any time in the last 18 months!
You'll be there in the mix come play off time. There's a few more games to come v fev this season'"
The guy on Radio Leeds described Leigh as 'the big spenders'!
Through gritted teeth, I have to say that Fev impressed me, no end, for a first 'competitive' game. I also have to say that there was a vibrancy around POR, before and during the game, that we would do well to take note of!

| Fev impressed me too.
Re the vibrancy don't you thinks that down to the number of visiting fans ? Something sadly lacking in the Championship.

| Didn't make it yesterday as was wasting my time in the rough part of Edinburgh but did anyone think our lack of Pre Seasons games had a bit of effect on yesterdays performance ?
A run out v Wigan reserves and a snow affected game v Swinton was all we had from memory.
I realise pre season is not the same as in season for intensisty and Fev are the best team in our league (in a normal world they'd be in SL by now) but was we a bit undercooked going into this match ?

Frank, I arrived early, and saw the number of young kids/families arriving. There were three schools there yesterday. There were three/four Golden Gamble sellers on the concourse, a lot of fuss was made about their (good) new programme, there was a troupe of cheerleaders, and a good atmosphere around the pitch - and yes that was aided by the number of Leigh supporters. Unfortunately, the Fev players picked up on the good atmosphere and thrived on it!
My point is that we are looking to measure ourselves against the Sooper Dooper league clubs, but we still have some catching up to do on Fev - both on and off the pitch. maybe we can learn from them?

On the field we were clearly outplayed on Sunday, however in terms of a pre season ours has been a shambles - as soon as the Salford situation started to deteriorate we needed to schedule a more worthwhile game than Wigan reserves. As a consequence our players are probably 2 weeks behind other teams in terms of being match ready and from talking to Fev fans about their pre season we're probably a month behind them.
Our bigger issue is off the field, our board and chief exec are a million miles behind those at Fev and other clubs. Before everybody starts, a tremendous Dunkirk spirit kicked in when Arthur had to pull out, however this has not been built on and we are now going backwards in terms of crowds, matchday experience etc etc.
Our inability to attract new sponsors to the club is clear for all to see, the shambles of Richie Blackmore being brought over on decent money and not being allowed/supported in a role which he clearly was never intended to get - I applaud the fact that Keith is a man of his word, however despair at the fact Richie was given longer than the end of January to get over here and thus become a dead cost as opposed to an asset. Good luck to Rob Parker in trying to make things happen in this area, the odds of him getting any support in something he obviously has no experience of are slim to none.
Whilst acknowledging we are unlikely to ever get another Arthur, which perhaps isn't a bad thing, the fact remains we do need a board prepared to introduce some personal monies to take the club forward. If Keith, Phil, John and the woman who doesn't attend are not so inclined, then bring people in who might - just having RFL box tickers in place for a licence application no sane person could ever "beleighve" we have a snowballs in hell chance of getting is a total waste of everybody's time and effort.

| Well I hope the board of this club don't read your post after what they have done for it. I'm sorry but we have only lost the first game in a long season and you are calling for a new BOD's. Get a grip. Do you not think that other potential investors look at Leigh and not make any kind of inquiry in the club. It would be done without anyones notice, even the present BODs. Unless there is another Aurthur out there our present board is the one to take us to the next step. The only thing that will entice big money is a winning side. We have fantastic facillities but don't own them so that may put some off. To be honest I wouldn't want someone who thinks that owning the ground is more important than the club. Most investors are only in it for a return and you don't get that in modern sport. I have been to a good few SL games and lots don't have a big bands and dancers every week. This club is going in the right direction and to start calling for a change in it is mad and will just cause more problems. If anyone thinks that they could organise such things before the game then I'm sure the club would welcome your efforts but I bet we don't have a single penny to fund it. By the way in Robs statement when he took the job on he asked for anyone to contact him with ideas for things like this so why not give him a ring.

| After having a couple of days to think about it, i accept the defeat and lets move on, my worry is how we constantly leave massive gaps and get sucked in on the wings, happens a lot when you watch closely, wingers need to stay put, the space the fev wingers centres had was ludicrous to say the least

I actually hope they do read it and ask themselves the question posed, are they prepared to introduce funds in order to move the club forward and if not are they actively looking for people who might?
As for the club going in the right direction, is that an honest belief with regard to off the field? If so, how?
This is not about dancers before a game, you look at what Fev are doing & have already done and you can see there is genuine validity to their Destination Super League plan. Our sad token gesture of "We BeLeighve" is laughable in comparison so lets all be open and honest as the fans forum keep telling us and accept we are going nowhere fast.

| How many people do you think work for Leigh Centurions full time and how many do you think get a decent working wage for their efforts? Why don't you ring the club and ask to speak to the BODs with your ideas? We have no money for promotional work. The club relies on the help of LISA and the other money raising agents to try and break even. Do you really think that the people who are working for nothing really want to do it and then read articles like this. I am dead against censorship and everyone is allowed their, view but unless you know of the people who you say are needed at the club or are prepared to fund promotional feats or even organise them for no money - like quite a few do - then your comments are worthless.

The number of people working for the club is totally irrelevant if the people above them don't provide any guidance or strategic direction. There is plenty of resource available via LISA, Touchdown Club etc if a plan is in place with specific people tasked to carry out specific measurable tasks.
The problem is we have a Board who don't have the time to make this happen and a chief exec who doesn't have the ability or inclination to do so. As such there is a total lack of cohesion, no genuine strategy or marketing of any aspect of the club, be it game day or otherwise.

| I think we have to be realistic, certainly at the moment. We do not have vast sums of money coming into the club, so I believe the strategy of being self-sustaining is the only way forward. We daren't be like Bradford, or Salford, or any one of a number of SL clubs who are living beyond their means. The huge danger of getting someone to throw their money away, is that they suddenly stop throwing it away or, even worse, want it back! I have a frustration that we are currently missing opportunities to bring in regular funds, from advertising, sponsorship etc, because we are right down to the bone, on staff numbers. 'Speculating to accumulate' is a strategy that springs to mind, but there is a risk associated with it. Hopefully, Rob's appointment is a step in the right direction, so that we can begin to harvest some of that sponsorship/adverising revenue.
The sentiment behind my post was not to kick off a dig at the Board/CEO, who are working very hard to put things right - more a statement that we can learn from the teams in our League, before we attempt to emulate the more successful ones in SL.
