Very shrewed that. They saved themselves a load of money and headaches. My tip is.

Leigh
Fax
Fev
Sheffield
Something tells me Fev will go off the boil this year. I can feel it in my water.

Quote: j.c "Then you accept being a feeder club and this particular member of the Leigh public has no interest in that what so ever'"

Its not about accepting anything other than where you currently are, being honest with yourself, and not wanting to do things by half

Its about being asked to join the party, recieving a gilt edged invite delivered by a bloody great big Stobart truck with a picture of Sam Hopkins on the side, and Nigel stepping out of the back of it and begging us to join

Not about sneaking in through the Kitchen and ending up with Salfords battered lorry with a sticker over feka's head

Some will believe anything they are told.

The RFL just move the goalposts when franchising time comes around otherwise tell me what Quins offer to our game for example.

I do not dislike Quins btw but they will probably move into the Olympic Stadium season after next and no doubt Cas will be playing at Wheldon Rd and Wakefield at Belle Vue.

It is a load of bull and aspiring clubs will never be able to increase support unless the pro game returns to promotion and relegation.

Is the any reason why, when you talk about failing clubs, you constantly fail to mention the biggest failing club in the short history of sl

I dont disagree frank, I'd happily take seasonal P and R over anything, 3 year licences dont work for us, far too risky, all IMO of course

Think Fev are due a season of injuries, in recent years they seem to have been reasonably luck, but Leigh, Widnes, Fax and Barrow (when they were good) seem to get a prolonged period of long term injuries.

This might be just my perception, but that's the way it feels to me.

1. Halifax
2. Leigh
3. Featherstone
4. Batley
5. Keighley
6. Sheffield

Keighley the suprise package for me this year, decent following, good coach and 5 or 6 really really top players.

Come on Jonny how can you put Fax above us. I'm never waving to you anymore when I go through Stockport station unless I'm going to a game and you are working. icon_smile.gif icon_smile.gif icon_smile.gif

I think that Fev players have suffered injuries to their squad like any other club tbh.

Re Keighley I watched them Boxing Day and quite honestly I was not impressed as they seemed to play at Champ 1 speed.

I have to say Fev's squad looks the business and I am very surprised AND pleased at how good ours is considering the cover we now seem to have in key positions.

I watched Fax at Salford and though they did not play well at the LSV they looked pretty
usefull in the first half there.

We will qualify for the play offs and I hope we win a playoff game too.

Top 3 is what the bookies currently think but I am an optimist so OK we will finish top. icon_smile.gif

No matter what I think our league looks like it's going to be entertaining no matter what.

Tight Games, good banter, good times.

Best sport in the world, supporting the best club in the world with the best fans in the world.

For £20 a month, i'm happy.

Our face doesn't fit in the current 'vision' for Super League, simple as that. I'd much rather remain a big fish in a small pond than be a perennial bottom 4 Super League club, which realistically is as far as we're going to go until one of us wins the Euro Millions.

All this talk of ending up a 'feeder club' would be exactly the same if we were a bottom 4 SL club, in fact even more so as we'd still be able to offer players Super League rugby for the youngsters, while the big clubs know we still wouldn't be able to compete financially once they come good.

This league is going to be an absolute belter this season, as it has been for the past 3 years at the very least. I think anybody who would swap Blackpool last year for a season like Salford/Wakefield/Castleford, even Bradford, are off their rocker.

This is where franchising lets the sport down, it kills investement at our level, and slowly squeezes the life out of clubs at the bottom, Salford have to attempt to build a viable fan base of 7,000 despite taking batterings most week, that would be exactly where we would be

Quote: Starbug "Fev qualified last time, but decided not to apply, because 1 ,it was obvious Widnes had been given the nod, 2 if their bid was then to be compared to current SL clubs, they couldn't win

So Fax were convinced by the RFL that their bid would be treated seriously, then it wasn't and a smear campaign was launched against them when they made their feelings public about it

I want us to apply when they cannot refuse'"

Featherstone did not apply for Super League because they currently do not attract the crowds to sustain a full time professional team and there ground does not meet the criteria.
Halifax failed because They failed to provide sufficient detail in their marketing, media or commercial plans.
'The club business plan was inadequate, figures presented by the club as the budget and performance forecasts for the 2012-14 licence period were speculative and the club did not provide sufficient information for KPMG to complete their assessment procedures,' a Super League statement read.
If Halifax had have correctly submitted there bid they would have got a licence.
