Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

I know a bit about setting up linux servers and stuff, so would be better at that side of it than app programming, but I could give it a go, never done Java stuff though (which is what android apps are based on), although when you can program in assembler and low level C it can't be that difficult! It may be that leighlife can get a better deal for a webserver than they have now with more bandwidth. The bandwidth will only be needed once a week, so the total MB usage may not be so high so could still get a cheap webserver deal. Will email you tomorrow hopefully.'"
When you've sorted that out , what would be needed for this to be done by all 20 Championship clubs ? , could they collectively purchase the necessary hardware , and other ' computery ' stuff at reasonable cost , and how could they charge for it ?
When you get a minute

| You charge by having an android app or iPhone app that folk have to pay for on the android market or iTunes that allows access to the stream. Should be not much extra work to set it up for more than one non SDL club.

| You could even take it further and do video feeds, but that would be too much of an excuse for fans who live close enough to not go to the game....although you could always block IP addresses in the UK....

Hi Athy Box Yed
At LeighLife we use a VS running Linux, Bandwidth isn't an issue and neither is storage space. What caused the site to run slowly while the radio was transmitting was the number of simultaneous requests to the webserver which consumed the available process handlers and stuffed the memory, as I'm sure you're aware swapping or anything similar isn't available on a VS but only on dedicated servers which is something we're looking into, if that proves to be beyond our reach then a VS with a memory upgrade might be the answer. We're still looking into the possibilities.

| Hi Pete,
I sent you a mail asking a few questions that you have mostly answered above! I hope I can help out so that we can get this up and running, preferably before next season starts!
