And that is what we need most of all - someone who has the money to put in a sizeable upfront investment, and the nous and vision to enable our club to thrive, independently of on field success, with no ongoing investment from directors.
Investment should be made to improve the club, not to continually pay for running it.
If we don't become self-sustainable then we will be back in this situation again in a few years. I'm not going to pretend that I have the ideas, but we desperately need someone who does.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.
I'm damn sure there is no way for directors to rob our club without committing a crime - and that's the only thing I would be worried about. We need cash-flow, without we will build up debt. If we hold back now then we may not have a club to watch, and spreading this fear and mistrust over the club is not going to help.
In fact, I would goes so far as to suggest that the comment is malicious and dangerous.
And from you, I don't understand it.

| The one criticism of Arthur was eventually his money would stop, but the club would never be ready for when that day came because we all took it for granted that we was alright. He should have come in and stabilized the club (as he did) and then set a 5 year plan or something, whereby his contributions would be reduced year on year until on the final year we would be heading towards being self sufficient of sorts. Then when he did step down the shock would not be so bad - ie the threat of all the good work going out the window over night. To me that is just wasting your money to then see nothing from it.

| We HAVE to become self sustainable. But it will only happen with a BIG injection of money to buy the club outright (Sorry Starbug, but that's what I think), and to put in a board of their own choosing who would get the job done. That BIG injection of money may or may not be paid back in the future, and I'm sure the new prospective owner would know that.
TBH, IF I had 10 Million to spend, I'd buy the club for £2 Million, and put in place people who I know would do the job for me. They'd be well paid if they acheived their targets, they'd be replaced if they didn't ....

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

That just about sums it up Michael , business , not charity and as you put , independent of on field success or failure , the sport cannot and never will finance the business

It isn't just bums on seats though is it.
Its about paying the right amount of money per adult for the level of entertainment we get.
£110 for an adult ST this season has been an absolute steel and if the club can try to give us the same next season then we all need to pay a lot more.

| If I had the money I would attempt to buy the stadium (think Wigan Council would be glad to be shot) and I would take over the club (though I wouldn't pay anything for it, it has barely any assets and is a money sink in its current state).
Then I would build the grand plan to make the club sustainable with the right people in place, and the correct money making ideas.
But alas, not enough money in the current account.

I won't disagree , the shortfall has to be covered until the business is built , unfortunatley there are still people out there running clubs who seem to think putting out a winning team is all they need to do , and the fans will come running back through the gates in enough numbers to finance the club from then on , it just doesn't happen , how many times does that plan need to fail for it to sink in , and these are on the whole successful businessmen in their own right , just as Arthur was
Leigh Centurions need to pull in 4,000 paying fans into the LSV to break even without any ' donations ' , that has to be the long term aim , it will need a long term plan overn5 to 10 years

We need to work on the perceived value before we could put ST prices up much.
We do have a great value product to sell, but the perceived value outside of the hardcore fans is low.

It is about the numbers jc , to maintain realistic ST and ticket prices playing in the Championship it is vital we don't overprice ourselves , if SL becomes a reality , then that might change , but where we are now , numbers are vital

You might be right michael but at £110 this season has been massively under valued.

| If you did have enough money to buy the stadium, say you won the euro millions on tuesday, the first things to be adressed would be the management of it. That would mean getting rid of the people who have been allegedly making it so hard for our club to get on there. These people were put in these positions I would say by Wigan council. When the clearout has been done and you have paid everyone off there would still be a very good chance that some may take you to an industrial tribunal. When this has been sorted you would have to still deal with Wigan council who I think would make you have it big time. You would have Health and Safety, Enviromental Health and all the other departments crawling all over the stadium every other week. Personally I would let Wigan Council control it but I would hold them to ransom like they have done to us. I would make it crystal clear that if they didn't have the welfare of the club at the top of their list of priorities then I would move Leigh Centurions to a bourough close by, build another stadium and provide free transport from Leigh town centre on sundays. F word to Wigan council, end of. The catering dept is the worst I have ever come accross.

Keep the money in LISA/CC club etc until we know how it should be used. At present PG's cover the overdraft, if money was placed in the bank would it not simply reduce the overdraft and hence the PG's? We cannot build up any more debt, we dont have the bank facilities to do so - simply helping to directly pay the bills at the end of the month would get my full approval.
I understand why the comment could be taken as malicious/dangerous but prefer cautious. We all only have the clubs future at heart and contributing now is vital, but not knowing how it would be used is stupid.

Numbers are vital if they are children with paying adults.
I'd sooner have 1500 people paying the maket rate for the product rather than adding another 500 only coming because its cheap as chips.
£110 was outrageously cheap for what we've had this season.

Talking hyperthetically you would want WMBC to put the stadium company into administration - no redundancy or unfair dismissal claims then buy it from the administrator.
