Slightly overstated as is 'being big time' just SL or at one if SL's top sides? See Shenton & Westerman as examples.

Is it just me or does this make no sense at all?

Meaning are you 'in the big time' just by playing Super League or is there a step above that?

Right, got you now. I guess that's down to an individuals opinion on what they see the threshold as. For me, the SL isn't a lucrative enough competition to be classed as 'big time' with one of the weaker teams.

You'd have to be performing in one of the top teams at a top level to really be classed as big time. However, that's just my opinion of course.
