Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

Without discussing the incidents, the organisation for getting away from the ground was shambles. We were stuck in the car park for about 25 minutes after the match - why was there no traffic control out onto the main road to relieve the congestion in the car park? With a following that Leigh have there was bound to be difficulties getting away.
Where was the police escort the coach was waiting for? When we did get away and more than half an hour after the game 1 police car passed us with its siren and lights flashing a mile and a half away from the ground followed by another police van a mile further on.
The whole situation was a shambles - nothing much has changed in 35 years.'"
It's never been easy getting away from PO road , unless they had a police officer stopping the traffic down the road at the end , as stewards wouldn't have the authority to do that
The coach was due to be escorted to the main road by stewards after everybody else had left , as that is what had been requested and agreed , obviously the trouble and the pre meditated potential golf ball attack ( not suggesting these youths had even been to the game ) resulted in the police being called to calm things down
Personnally I thought the stewards did quite well as the trouble was moving about for a good ten minutes and don't forget , they are stewards , not police , they are not paid to directly stop people throwing punches at each other , do we really want to see ' doormen ' type stewards getting involved ?
What the solution is , well personally it might be worth Fev requesting a small police presence for the next couple of games , not what we really want to see and it can be expensive , but it might be the best option IMO

| Police control at the main junction is the obvious thing to me to ease the flow of traffic away from the ground.
Don't want to get into what happened after the game other than to say this was my first trip to Fev in over 30 years and felt in a time warp. All that was missing was the old woman who swiped the Leigh fan round the head with her handbag. We all swore at the time that she had a brick in it. I'm sure others will remember that incident too.

What were you expecting from a ground being 80/90 years old? unlike the LSV, we're bang in the middle of the town... not even traffic control (although that is a good idea) could have got you out within 20 minutes.

Ay up mate ow you doing
Police presence is the answer as no one will want locking up.
I also think both fans were as bad there was some right bellends on that coach of yours, 1 small guy who had his son with him and was wearing a green lacost top was telling every one who would listen to him that "we have all had it in Blackpool because hes getting a reyt crew" There was about 10 or 20 ed up who were wanting a ruck and the problenm we have at Fev is they wont have to look to hard to find 1. I know what Rovers fans can be like and i saw what some Leigh fans were like Monday, it needs stopping now because we will have some big games coming up and we dont want anyone else in hospital

Suggy, you and I have been saying for ages now what it's like, "IF" someone goes to a game looking acting daft or looking for bother, they might have to look hard for it at some places but regrettably Fev is the kind of place whenre if you look for it, your going to find it easy enough.

And there lies part of the problem Lynda and I've seen it from all sets of fans. Popped up, disinhibited and because of alcohol the capacity to make appropriate judgement is severely effected.
Both clubs sets of fans have some answers to provide from Sunday. I try to be objective and you know I have always had a soft spot for Leigh. But the usual course of action after something like this is :- each sets of fans blame each other = nowt gets done! Ball ache!!
I enjoyed craic with Steve, Matt etc at games, and I even go to the odd Leigh game as a bloody neutral!!!
I really hope that cos of some fans (both clubs) inability to behave or take their ale that that isn't affected!!
I'm bleedin stalled of all this sheeeite!!
All I want is a pint, craic wi mates from all clubs, watch a game, debate whether the ref was a clown, compare my belly to the opposition centre, and spend the time until the next installment in 'gloat mode' or 'revenge mode' depending on the result without fear of getting an hiding!
Somebody called me a fat ginger yorkshire 2@!!
Ginger??? I ask you!!!
Keep smiling y'all. Love and peace man!

I bloody wish Lynda; didn't leave Leigh until 11.35am!
Robin, the voice of reason as ever mate
Had a good craic stood with the Fev lot in the first half and would hate to lose that. Think the 'departure route' of those in the Family Stand might need to be looked at it in future though as that's where the confrontation happens with a handful of Fev 'fans' happy to see the opportunity of going through a narrow area where they can't be seen by away fans who are still facing towards the pitch.

| Although I don`t necessarily agree with segregation, did n`t we do that at HP for the BIG games and at the LSV. At least it keeps the meat heads( both sets), who should only be allowed shandy ,away from the rest of humanity.

| That was the 1st thing I said when the trouble started ,all those Fev fans should have been directed to the opposite end to go off with their fans behind sticks ,it was asking for trouble really as they seemed quite" upset ",thats putting it mildly with the ref so the Leigh lot cheering and whooping wouldn't have gone down very well ,they should have been able to take it mind you, we are all adults ,I delighted in cheering at the end and directed it at a Fev fan who had been jubilant through the match and let us know about it too so, I gave it back with extra but, with a smile on my face ,he said he would see us in Blackpool which is a tad presumptuous as we both have to get there !
