The problem is that Super League clubs are too interested in signing the next second rate import (looking for quick fix) than signing talented young English players.

yeh but Eclipse is right - Kyle Briggs is the exception and not the rule unfortnately it seems - there is so much potential in england,why go for the overseas option - it's scandalous !

Personally I think the issue is that it's to easy to say you are signing an NRL player and people then believe they are guaranteed a good player!

usually when you sign an overseas player you know what you are getting at least - conversely,if the english potential talent isn't given a chance how can we ever know[u if[/u they are good enough or not ?
The same applies to the Catalans overseas recruitment v the french talent of course.

I agree! When Hilly DOES go to a SL team and shows just how good he is there will be plenty of other teams wondering how they have overlooked such a great player in the lower leagues. I am amazed that Hilly still plays for us and we need to make the most of it while he is here as somebody will take him to SL eventually.

I have a terrible feeling that when widnes get promoted to SL they will try and take Hill with them as they know just how good he is as he has given them many problems in recent years. I hope not though

Re Widnes and Non Relegation League I do not think promoted is the right word. Invited is better which says it all about the RFL's current attitude to on field success and which is why the Expansionist clubs will be the bottom 3 clubs in this the third year of this daft experiment which should be binned sooner rather than later. IMO of course.
