Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| Quote: Dico "Rubbish.
You need to learn the difference between SLE and the RFL.
The administration rule was dropped as the Crusaders arent the only club going down this road and if Leeds Rhinos lose the test case in court on behalf of the RFL they could well find themselves taking this option also. Turkeys don't vote for christmas.
I agree it should be a set standard rate accross the board, except for mitigating circumstances, like, what could happen with the Rhinos for example where it's said the one payment to HMRC would be in excess of £1 million.'"
So you are suggesting that clubs that have been
1 Circumventing the Salary Cap
2 Avoiding paying Income Tax [ mine and yours money ]
Should not be punished ?

| so the corrupt tail is now officially wagging the dead dog, SLE fans need to know the difference between what is the law and what is lawfull if they think not paying the HMCR is fair, as it would seem the SLE clubs change the rules to suit themselves then the RFL take those rules and try and strictly apply them to the Championship clubs.

| But it WAS the law.
If they broke the law people would be in serious trouble.
As it stands the HMRC are engaging in a d*ck waving contest by punishing things retrospectively from 5 years ago.
If they want to close these loopholes; great, but as is typical with the government they want to play once upon a time game. Punishing from when the loopholes were closed - fair enough but then they'd have nothing to do with all their jobs for the boys

| I didnt dodge SB's question at all.
Anything done before the loophole was closed was within the law and within the rules of the game was it not? If it wasnt why has no club been brought up under a breach of the salary cap? Why are the RFL backing Leeds' court case?
Punishing for years before a loophole was closed is downright 'I can do it because im bigger than you'. Its like those salt shakers in Wolverhampton last week, you couldnt make it up. Government workers have nothing better to do than be a pest.
My dad used to work for a council; when he wasnt playing golf or table tennis on works time he still had little to do. These guys are just bored and need a hobby instead of picking on the little man that is RL. They should have just gone for Premiership Soccer outright and left us alone

We dont know yet do we , if they have broken the law , then they also have broken the salary cap rules as well , but are you suggesting that if it is all the clubs then that is ok ? , or if it is just a few of the bigger clubs then fine , that is ok as well
No it is not

| Well.. no.
How can you break a law that doesnt even exist?
Unless the rules are written down and clear how is anyone supposed to follow them?!
If it is deemed as a breach of the salary cap I think the RFL will brush it under the table as I bet there's about 7 clubs that have been doing it.
I still maintain you cant break a law that doesn't exist.

953.jpg 2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!:953.jpg |

| Surely as far as the RFL are concerned they would class as illegal payments under the Salary Cap guidelines.....brush it under the carpet? What? and destroy possibly the final piece of credibility. They've already made licensing rules worthless by showing they can change them just BEFORE someone breaks them, now if they were to ignore the 'illegal' payments I don't think I could come up with a descriptive enough word for them. One club, seven clubs who cares. Actually caring less and less about SL.
Dico, I see Hicks has come out of retirement after one week. He was paid off and Wire felt they needed to say he had retired, whats up with just releasing him and paying up his contract (salary cap?)

Illegal as far as the RFL are concerned i meant. Ok we'll go with payments that should really be counted on the Salary Cap, a bit like Hicks' payoff from Warrington. I assume because he was retiring and the new season hadn't started it doesn't count

Love him or hate him, 163 consecutive appearances should make Stuart Littler a Salford legend in anyone's book :Others/NA.JPG |

| Quote: lowton sparrow "4 points, 9 points, so what - it doesn't matter. If they finish bottom they still wont be relegated.
Like many things in RL recently - the game doesn't matter. Soon we will know which championship side will be in SL in 2012 season - so this season doesn't matter to them.
The team who win the champoinship this season, wont get promoted - so it doesn't matter.'"
That's the biggest load of nonsense on this thread (and there's plenty of competition on that front too?!
The lack of P&R doesn't mean that games don't matter. Sport is about beating what's in front of you.
If that was the case no SL clubs would care about winning the SL title as they wouldn't get promoted because of it.
What matters is sporting your team, enjoy our sport and challenging for trophies - all of which can be done in the Championship and SL without P&R.
The way that RL is run is embarrassing and frustrating at times but it should never detract from the enjoyment of watching 16 blokes slugging it out on the pitch.
And, just in case you wondered, I am in favour of P&R - I just don't cry about the lack of it as much as some.
