| Quote: Brad Fittler Fan Club "The way I read the promo was that kids would have to come as a school group. Can't blame any teacher who doens't want to be stuck with the kids any longer than necessary - I think the primary schools should have been given family tickets to distribute. A ticket to a primary school kid on their own isn't much use when they can't go on their own!'"
i think they have tried distributing tickets before, they either dont get handed out or parents dont take them! i agree with you that the teachers sont want to be stuck with the children. Maybe we could offer volunteers obvs with CRB check and all that gubbins....this is something we could look at doing? working with wigan and leigh college. lots of students doing this would have something unusual to put on their CV.
when i was there, we organised a childrens event, was during the day though

| I think some leythers are being over-critical of this promotion. 25% take ups pretty good on a weekday evening in the middle of SATS if you ask me.
One way of cutting out CRB checking is to give out tickets to the kids and the ticket states 'take a parent to the game for a pound' this way the kids are supervised.

| In my sons school there is only 1 male teacher, and as far as I know he does football for years 5+6.
My sons are 7 + 9 and would love to do "out of hours" sports but the school is unable to provide staff to participate in after school sporty activites or many other activities - I guess as the teachers will not be paid for trips/activities out of hours then they can be justified at not organising them.
They have just started a 30 minute football training for younger pupils at lunchtime and they are being tought by years 5+6 to help with their coaching skills
We have had visits from both Leigh + W*g*n rugby clubs for a few taster sessions for certain age groups and my sons loved them.
I wonder if the decline of male primary teachers is affecting the numbers - I cannot see any of the female teachers at my sons school being interested in watching rugby.
My 7 year old starts his SATS next week so that wouldnt be a problem for him

| Get the rugby club to work with wigan and leigh college, im sure they would love to help! one of their actual modules are plan and carry out an event!
1 tour of the ground for the students , have the club to arrange coaches or even the schools . funding for a coach wil come through school funds or goverment bodies
The college will benefit from having their name mentioned, have allan rowley sign certificates for the students! it looks good going to uni. Increase in crowd, Then were all winners

| Not making excuses but it would be interesting to understand the make up of the schools who are attending and those who declined. For example its presumed all the schools invited actually play RL?? I think the anaysis needs to understand how many of those schools invited actually play rugby league and then understand of thle 10 takers how many of those actively play rugby league. I can only speak for my towns junior schools (Atherton) and I am not aware of any of them actively playing rugby league. Maybe the target audience was wrong, maybe next time approach the high schools in the same areas and especially those that play the game. Its at high school were the next generation of fans can quickly get hooked and begin to come to home matches on their own.
Just an observation but I might also be equally as wrong.

| 25% is a good result and if that attracts say 200 kids and 25% of those come again with their parents that is another 150 people through the gates for the next game, they go away and tell their freinds.
From little acorns............
There will be no quick fix but this is a definate step in the right direction

| Quote: mr. chairman "not a good take up at all , leigh east are in ten schools at the moment and our festival day will attract over 250 children from those schools , why did leigh not link it to our school to club links , we also provided transport to leigh east for the day and gave the schools some freebies'"
It is a good take up given the time scales involved, with a more long term plan in place this needs to be built on. From my understanding the invites were only received by some schools 10 days ago which made it difficult to organise in some cases, given the circumstances it is not a bad return.
That said well done to Leigh East I hope the day is a great success but the circumstances are different.

| Actually as I said before I dont think that it was a bad turn out tonight, personally Id target the 1st/2nd yr high schools free ticket all that s needed, dont need supervision. Although good stewarding would be needed to stop inter school problems lol

| Looked good to have at least some of the East Stand populated tonight, let's hope those who attended are rewarded with future incentives so that they don't slip through the net.

Yep, just a shame none of the parents and children could hear any of the announcements, music when all the dancers were on,it seemed like the PA was not switched on in that stand! There were no programme sellers, no half-time draw tickets, the bar shut 5 minutes after half-time (lots of missed opportunites for crisp, pop, pie and beer sales) and most importantly no loo paper in the ladies loos but I suppose at least it has a roof and electricity!

I'm sure Fred will confirm it, but I would suspect that Sky will have requested to have the PA turned off in the East Stand.

Can understand that Matt but surely it could have been put back on for half-time so at least the parents could hear the dancers being introduced. Normally we are in North stand but paid to support my school and sat in South stand, it definitely felt "second class" to our normal match experience - not the way to entice more regular spectators.
