| Jo Platt, like Nandy voted for a second reading as they saw the writing on the wall for an election and thought "oh, I'm an MP for a leave majority constituency, perhaps I should look like I'm doing something to respect democracy."
Too little, too late. With Nandy still parroting on about a customs union, she clearly hasn't understood what leaving the EU is.
Though, to be pedantic, the referendum did say not to be a "member" - i.e. we can not be a member but still be part of all their institutions, if some were to follow that referendum to the letter.
To the point about "No Deal." This is the legal default, as decreed by the action of activating Article 50 and therefore if nothing is signed by the 31st January 2020, we leave with no deal, unless the government amend the act to delay again but then they'd be doing it as themselves as there isn't the cat and mouse no majority that May and the first months of Boris as PM had to deal with.
And one other point. Even if the WA/PD is signed and we enter into the transition phase which is due to end in December of 2020, the UK government can legitimately just tear up any agreement and still leave without "a deal."
Yes not exactly gentlemanly conduct but the threat of "no deal" never goes away.
Logically the UK government with its huge majority should have the whip hand in negotiations with the EU now but we shall just all see how it plays out.
Like we've had to suffer through for the last 3 1/2 years.

It would appear that one party judged the mood of the electorate, (especially in the North) while the other two main parties failed miserably to do so.

Yeah they have been used, as they won't get the outcome they want. The countries in voting for Boris has voted for the diminishing of works rights more 0 hours contracts, the continued roll out of universal credit and a prob a no deal Brexit that will have a massive impact on GDP, that will mean businesses will lay people off and drive wages down. Not much there for a younger generation. Statistically more young people voted labour, the older the age group there more you vote Tory, 65+ predominantly so.
Boris has pulled the trick of getting people to vote for the status quo, the same government as has driven austerity for a decade yet has got people to believe they will get change.
Labour definitely got the mood of its heartland wrong and should have promised a Brexit that would keep workers rights and protect jobs. I taking a democratic stance they gave an unclear message and have paid the price. Be interesting to see Boris roll back his promises over the coming years and spin it otherwise.

Whats obvious is most have voted regarding Brexit. As you say we don’t really know the deal. It may work, not sure being in the EU actually worked or the people who voted to join in knew what they where voting for at the time.
Leigh is Blue and the town have spoken.

| Leyther 14 when you are young you believe in equality of everything, that only white males are racist, that the NHS is unquestionable, that the highly paid will happily pay more tax, that those on benefits are all people wanting to work and that it doesn’t matter if you have a nuclear deterrent or not because all nations feel as you do
The reality is that the pot is only so big, higher tax rates mean less tax income, every race and creed are racist to some degree, the NHS is badly run and as we live longer and find new drugs to extend life decisions have to be made, police have no powers any more, student s rotes need a fekkin good kickin when using the democratic right to protest their forefathers fought for to show no respect etc
Locally what we know is that being taken for granted has seen our proud town on its knees, Labour have taken us for granted at national and local level and we have said enough is enough, first we change our MP then we need to leave Wigan council which imo is rotten to the core, can’t wait for local elections when I pray our ballot choice will be labour and GLOW.
Let’s make our little town great again, I have a feeling we will get huge central support as they will want to keep our votes add that to a ref to get out of this hated council and I will die a happy man
