And why ask for a dispensation if the board knows we are not going down?
very good if it can be proven that our projected income is enough.

Ah, but Mr. Lewis stated on TV that their ground was fine! Perhaps, like LSV, he couldn't find it?

| Being relegated is a blow but a bigger blow would be not getting promoted straight back up.
Any fan who thinks we would have got in super league next time is living in a dream land. We need a few good seasons to prove we are up to it, not just one.

| Whichever division Leigh end up in next year, if Leigh can afford it then spend it wisely on players (not hangers on) and sod the salary cap.
It's only a 6 point deduction the following year, so what. Half the other teams ignore it.
or Make all the players, ambassadors on xxK and playing for xxpence.
If we end up in div 1 then to save money, they might as well only open the west stand as the crowds will be around 1000.

Gateshead had a super league presence all of their own. The merger with Hull actually took it away.

I can only imagine that if the RFL decide to expand the Championship - because the clubs have complained there arent enough fixtures or another club is entering Champ 1, then they *might* think about relegating one team and promoting two.
Can't see it happening myself, but who knows....

Jimmy Ledgard would have caught that.: |

On the other hand will all of the clubs presently in CC/CC1 still be around come January?
The winds of the recession are starting to bite. So far clubs have had an income through gate receipts/sponsorship etc. When this stops for a few months but the bills continue to come through the door, what then?

| I know it wont be nice to be relegated but after thinking about it i wont be losing any sleep over it if the worst should happen.
We will be playing in a division below but the only games that i will miss are the Widnes home and away, i will look forward to games like Oldham, Rochdale, Swinton and even Blackpool(away of course )
The obvious disadvantage is the Super League application but i think we could go unbeaten for 3 years and they would still find an excuse to keep us out.

Agree with that.
Widnes was the big game to look forward to for me, theres not much difference between Sheffield & Hunslet , Gateshead & Skolars, Haven and Workington for support.
We could (depends on who joins Dewsbury) also have some local games v Swinton, Oldham , Rochdale & Blackpool , with Keighley and York as good away trips.
Finacially I cannot see how those clubs are a better or worse draw than all Championship clubs with the exception of Widnes and Halifax (with due respect to the others).
A bit of quality marketing matched with attractive pricing and our gates could go up, especially if we win more and have a good league and Northern Rail Cup run with the odd Challenge Cup upset with the luck of the draw
