| Once went to the bar in the Railway and asked for some crisps.
Barmaid said 'not got any, the rats had them'.......
.......'you could have a pie though'

Think you are right but no doubt Charlie will think it was the Acorn Alehouse or the Circus Tavern.

| It was the Swan as someone posted earlier and I thinkit was the late Frank Urmston who threw the chair through the window. As a kid old Mr Price was the landlord, his family lived in Gordon St and he served me before I was 16, godbless him.

| The Royal Oak was there, and was it the Railway?
Twas merely a nipper at the time.
When I was a toddler, I remember the Willow Tree on Heath Lane (Last Shift). Used to wait for the old chap on a Friday evening to come out after a shift in the pit.
The pub was deralict for years. I am sure it was haunted !!

| The Royal Oak was right on the corner were the jobs place is know and the Live and Let Live was a couple off doors down Twist Ln. Quite a dangerous place to drink the Oak as busses and coal trucks used to crash into it regular.

Was this the one in its last incarnation known as the Moonraker? I can't remember its name before that but Harry Ridgeway was the landlord in the sixties.
