Of the performance, for the first time I felt completely embarrassed by a Leigh team, even worse than some of the smackings we took in 1998.

Only a couple of players come out of that with any credit whatsoever. We know they can do better, they showed us last week.

I want to see fighting spirit and commitment from my team for the rest of the season. It's been evident in 90% of games this season.

Regarding preparation though, I've travelled up to Whitehaven with the team when they arrived a bare half hour before the kick off due to traffic and seen them win.

I think there should be a lot of soul searching this week done by everyone at the club.

The people that went deserve better.

For most of the time yesterday, it appeared that we hadn't turned up at all, never mind 90 minutes before k-o! I honestly fancied our chances, given that Barrow had lost four of their previous six games, they had players out injured and were attempting to introduce a new coach and players into a team. That normally takes time, yet we saw two half backs, Coyle and Rooney playing as though they had been together all season, not just three days! If Ian has got someone better than Coyle in mind, he must be a good one! And Rooney is pure class - so aware of what is going on around him, with so much time to spare. True, it helps to show your class, if nobody is tackling you! Our team, however, looked as though they hadnever played together before!

I don't think I've ever seen so many one-on-one tackles missed, and players so unaware of what was happening on the field! As I've already posted, it's ok shoving your full back at hooker, (honestly!) if anyone is covering for him. (they weren't!) Even I saw that, from the stand! So did Rooney, he kicked, Nixon who was also aware, chased and scored! They also kicked from their own 20, when Mort had been in our defensive line and was trotting back, with his back to the opposition. He didn't even see the ball until it bounced behind him! That's not to single out one player - they were all bad, every one of them!

I didn't go and haven't been for while admittedly. I simply don't have money to throw away on the garbage we're serving up.

Nobody want us to win more than me and of course I want us to stay up but there must be some kind of explanation for that kind of performance after beating Sheffield the previous week.

I couldn't live with myself knowing I've not given 110% for the team but it seems some of them weren't bothered yesterday.

I went yesterday and was very disappointed with the effort, which reminded me of the game against the London Broncos in 2005 and we know whay happened that season!

The most disappointing aspect of the game was that we were equally bad in both half’s. Normally at half time the team can be galvanised to produce a better second half. If we are to stay up we need to be fighting for every point, relegation this year could be decided on points difference or a bonus point gained, yesterday we accepted our fate and either couldn't be bothered or couldn't do anything to stop Barrow.

I agree strongly with Alan about Stuart. I am sure he wants to play but he has now become a weak link (due to injury), which the opposition are targeting. What motivation for a reserve player when you are deemed not good enough to replace a player that can hardly walk.

Rooney was a class above yesterday and the one thing you do not give a class player is time and we gave him plenty to do whatever he wanted. I think individually a lot of the players are better than yesterday’s performance but collectively as a team we were woeful.

Lets hope the team can rally together because the Doncaster lads will be getting the sniff of an upset.

Not at all, more importantly I am a Leigh rugby fan with no axe to grind unlike some on here. On some of these threads there are unbelievable comments made about both Paul and Allan that are disgraceful to be honest. Let me give you some facts :-

NOBODY more than Allan and Paul would of been more disappointed with yesterday’s performance, score line etc than they would have been. But what would you like them to do come on here and type that they agree with you?

Instead we get comments such as f off Paul and even someone complaining that our CEO was walking through the streets of Leigh in a Leigh Centurions jacket earlier in the week. Just read that last comment it’s absolutely unbelievable that someone could complain on here about it.

Everybody says Paul should go, yes results have been poor and some performances even worse, but did he sign those players? Can he change those players now? Would any other coach come in knowing Ian will be back in 5 games? Some of you will no doubt say we could have signed all those Oldham players that Barrow signed on Friday. Do you not think we would have tried too, but if a players is offered a 2 year deal or a 5 game deal knowing he won’t be at the 5 game deal club next year whats he going to do?

I have no doubt the capture of Ian will absolutely revolutionise our great club again but in the immediate term its had a negative effect; no players will sign unless they are offered long term deals knowing they are part of Ian’s plans, the players Ian obviously wants for 2010 aren’t available right now. Some of the present squad have given up as opposed to trying their hardest for a contract next year and be a part of the revolution.

The second point I want to clear up as many seem to think I stick up for Paul/Allan too much but again I will deal in facts. Ever since Paul came back in 2002 there have been constant nonsense written here about him falling out with coaches. Paul Terzis signed him and why if he had fallen out with Terzis would Rowley get offered the chance to go coaching with Paul in Australia 2 years later? The next coach to come in; show me a player who didn’t fall out with him????? Then came TB who when you look at the playing list at Leigh in 2006 it was a disaster that we didn’t go up. Then came Shawy who appointed Paul as his assistant. Then came Ned who agreed to like wise. Then if any of you think Paul took the job in March/April not knowing Leigh were to attempt for the 4th time to bring Basil back then I give up! That’s Paul’s history since he came back!!! Yes there might have been people he fell out with; do you get on with every one of your bosses and colleagues? But the garbage that’s written on here it’s a wonder he’s given over 10 years of loyal service to his home town club!

I hope that clears a few things up; yes if I had gone yesterday I would have been disappointed and we do have to improve over the next 7 weeks to stay up but as I have said many times we have 5 games left with 4 at home. If any of you think Steve McCormack wouldn’t trade places with us right now you are crazy! Gateshead went and conceded over 40 points to a team that we have beaten twice and lie 3rd in the league. It’s a funny old game but I don’t hear Thunder fans calling for Steve Mc’s head!

Whilst I fully understand everyone’s disappointment with yesterdays result some of the comments on a number of the threads are wrong and some who typed them should have a real reflection in the mirror this morning.

Keep the faith and support YOUR club!

No matter who the players are, a coach should be respected enough for the players to want to make an effort, and I would also, like a few others, like to know which player/players thought it was funny. Individual effort may have been there but as a team who concedes 12/13 tries in 80 minutes you cannot say there was team effort.

Ste, we are keeping the faith and supporting our club, we have all season but when we travel miles and miles for a 6.30 kick off on a Saturday and get well beaten not just outclassed but for us to show no heart or desire at any point in the game was demoralising for the fans and some of us just can't afford to keep the faith or keep supporting our club because it costs too much.

Dare I say, the fans wouldn't have been bothered getting beat if we have shown some effort and team togetherness. The players seemed to be questioning each other 15 minutes into the game. It isn't good enough. Somewhere along the line something isn't right, some of these current crop of players aren't showing any fight to the cause and are taking our great club for a ride. They are showing no respect for the coachs they are letting themselves down and letting the fans down and showing our club up to be a laughing stock on yesterdays performance.

In Super League we were well out of our depth and we expected to get hammered by these kind of score lines against the Leeds and Saints of this word, and we did. However, in this league where, on paper we aren't a bad side, we proved that last week by beating a form side, we've completed the double over them and Widnes while we should have beaten Barrow at home earlier this season there is no excuse what-so-ever for yesterday.

Any Leigh fans that went to the game yesterday should be given a full refund by the club.

well i for one do not want my cash back, i just want complete and otal effort from my team, do these players realise how fortunate they are, to play the gretets sport n earth, and get paid for it, ok not as much as some, but even so get paid, and also play for a once proud club, i do not think tipster ste its any of us fans who should look in the mirror pal, its that shower who pulled on the jersey and showed so little respect for it or any pride in ity.

Well I definately had when I heard 2 Australian accents in a pub I went in on the way back to my hotel. One was a Barrow player who scored 2 tries and the other one was Armistead.

To be fair Armistead was just as down about the game as I was but he does know how we fans feel and he was sober which isn,t bad for about 12-30am.

I also bumped into Nicky Stanton,s mam earlier she said to me if I knew why he never gets a pass . I told her why and she was astonished because she said thankyou I thought I was paranoid.

Her partner said something about her lad and a Non relegation team for next season but as I don,t do gossip you,ll have to buy me a pint before I tell you.

Fully agree pal but what I dont agree with is the pure hatred spilled by SOME who clearly hold personal grudges.
