I must admit I like Purtill, whether he's ready to bounce Leigh back to SL I'm not sure. But a nice player in a dark period for Leigh with a good rugby brain and excellent footballing skills. Talks a good game as well unlike the monotonous middle manager Jukes. Jebus, Jukes was so freaking dull. The most impressive thing how after retiring early through injury (if memory serves me right), Purtill quickly got involved with coaching at SL level and must have a good 10-15 years experience now, albeit not as head coach.
Cunningham however seems to be a shark and gets whatever he wants and may end up with the coaching job. I'm sure it was in his plans from the start to oust Jukes when the time was right.

However if you give it the Mr. Big Shot in public you better be able to take it when it gets rough. How about riding the storm and using the so called business and marketing skills to respond accordingly and rallying the troops. We're only on a 3 consecutive game losing streak, promotion is still possible.'"

| What is this all about (Derek walking away)
Let's look at the last week
He publicly slammed the fans at least 4 times
1. Jukes resignation on the website
2. Neil Barker video on LCTV
3. Radio Manchester
4. Page 3 of the match program
Maybe other places as well
This is what he got in return
1. 3,500 turn up
2. Singing there hearts out getting behind the lads
3. Not once did the fans boo
4. No clapping the opposition
And still I am hearing he has walked away
Its about time he came clean and stop using the fans as a scapegoat
All this is not going to help the moral of the players or get a future coach is it
So what is this all about?
(Proper protocol now)
Love you Derek, don't know what we would do without you.

| Derek has spoken about walking away a few times. He mentioned it last season when the fans abandoned him. If he goes we start again from the bottom. The money he’s put in I don’t see anyone else matching

| If social media is a yardstick by which to measure public opinion, it appears that an increasing number of Leigh fans are coming round to opinions long held by other re the main gadgy at your club.
I've long held the belief that he's a loud offensive irritating egotist that is ok if his botty is consistently being kissed and he's surrounded by folk that are unlikely to challenge him.
Whether he goes or not, time will tell. I'm not sure he'll be missed beyond Leigh city limits....

If you haven't yet heard the Radio Manchester > Derek Beaumont interview with Jack and Trevor, that Zulu01 mentions above, check it out here:

Starts at 36:45-ish.

| Kurt Baptiste leaving was a decision made by Keiron Purtil alone. Baptiste lives in a sy flat in Salford Quays and since being injured has hardly been seen for any rehabilitation.
Baptiste wanted away, not enjoying it and the decision was the correct one for both parties, considering he is also a quota player.
As for Derek, all commitments will be honoured but let's be honest post match he was as frustrated as us all. Derek is a young lifelong Leigh fan off the Hilton Park terraces first and foremost, the fact he went on to make a few million quid is secondary.
Last night I was so down as I was not going to go to Halifax, this morning I woke up and I am ready for the fight to pick up the 14 wins required for top 4. I am definitely going to Halifax now.
Derek will feel the same no doubt Today. Up the comics !

H, will the club get a butty out of Baptiste leaving? Similar with Goodwin to Wire.

Right, I'm not his number one fan, but am grateful for what he has done for us, so far. For that he gets my thanks. I believe the fans are entitled to show how they feel, but can't condone it when it becomes 'personal'. (although that can cut both ways)
As for Halifax, we'll both be there, hoping to witness the revival!

| He has insulted the Leigh fans calling us despicable, posted an obscene insult on Twitter to one lady, then spouted veiled threats on Radio Manchester, saying he doesn't want to be part of that. In other words he's setting the stall to walk and then he can blame the fans.
What does he do after that - he cuts off from social media. It's funny how he loved social media when all was going well and people were licking his backside. His picture was even put on the side of the Centurion pub alongside Leigh greats - Alex Murphy, John Woods, Tony Cottrell. I don't know whose idea that was but it was an absolute insult to those Leigh greats.
We had a team winning Championship after Championship and an excellent coach. He's come along and dismantled it and now we are in the state we are in. It isn't what you would call a successful reign. It appears to be a hobby.
As for the players and where we will be playing in future, I would rather see a team of lads who want to play their hearts for Leigh playing on Marsh Playing Fields, than this set of journeymen.
What I would say to all in the current set up is to roll your sleeves up and play until your lungs are bursting for the pride of playing for Leigh in front of a set of fans who are the most passionate in Rugby League and an honour to have on your side. And as for DB - pick your dummy up and understand what an honour it is to be in charge of Leigh Rugby League. What an honour it is to have such passionate fans who live and breathe Leigh Rugby League. What an honour it is to be a LEYTHER. You do NOT insult us!!!
Now lets all pull together and storm those Middle 8s - or if you don't have the stomach for the fight then - do one. There will always be aLeigh Rugby League club.

| He set and built high expectations and everyone got on board the roller coaster. We had a season where players were following the Canadian wanna be,players on big money who were in dark places. Players full of ill-discipline. Players who just turned up for the wad.
I'm pretty sure Riddy was off to Wakey at one point and admitted spitting the dummy out. Our last three seasons have been nothing but trials and tribulations and something had to change to stop that.
The roller coaster just needs to start again,as at present its stopped.
