Well I have all copies of every game and whilst I am still doing this job they will not appear free anywhere, I can't say it much plainer than that.

As long as the games stay available to view at my leisure I'm all for it too. If I'm paying for the privilege, I'd like to be able to watch them when I want and as many times as I want.

The question is Mish how long do we keep them on for? Realistically how many people will want to watch leigh v York months after the game has been played?

I'm not sure but I think they should be kept longer than a month and then the special/big games should be archived.

For instance I may want to pass a rainy afternoon in the future by watching a re run of our splendid NRC win at Featherstone. Are we saying that may disappear completely from all viewing within a month? i.e gone by now?

I am not bothered what platform it may be placed on after a month or so, just as long as I can view it [isomewhere[/i as part of my annual subscription at any time.

Brainwave !!!!!!! If there is a game you want to watch over and over maybe Fred could burn you a DVD for say £5. If it appears anywhere free to view then whoever posts it is breaching copyright.

I believe the favoured option from Stefan and Fred, is to purchase more storage - and that will hopefully be the one put to the BOM.

I may as well just buy the DVD's instead, more money in to the club's coffers that way as well.

So to keep every game available for watching forever means that games will have to be uploaded in a smaller file size thereby reducing quality, or just have it as a Games only service, or substantially increase the monthly payment to cover a larger VIMEO bill because my guess will be that we have to purchase even more and more server space unless an idea put forward by someone on here to me that I have passed on to Stefan can be utilized.

A bit of feedback for the debate !

I probably fall into the bracket of not being able to watch the games in a months period as primarily I'm too busy at work to be able to watch the games in full again.

I suppose my preference is highlights rather than a entire game (as I stand more chance of watching them) so if we was moving some games after a month I'd prefer any highlights to be left on as long as possible as I would watch them again, I did optimistically plan to watch all the games when I had my holiday break (or at least 1 match a night with a few cold ones !) but I can fully understand the need for taking games off if space is at a premium as it makes sense.

A long shot (and mindful of Fred's explanation some time ago about the time constraints when putting highlights together) is if taking games off LCTV would it be possible at some point to put the tries from those games as a highlights package so there is still some link or would that just be replacing one large file with another and creating a totally unrealistic workload for the guys who edit all the footage ?

No the file size of HLS even in HD are far smaller than a game would be in ordinary DVD quality, HLS's are not impossible to do but weeks like the one just gone- wed u20's, thur 1st, fri easts, and sat miners plus editing and coding up 3 interviews, whilst uncommon the work load is big, too big in fact for one person that I am hoping will change, especially if people want the 'light entertainment' progs.
TBH this thread was to gain peoples views and as far as Im concerned it is the majority that wants the games kept up but and this must be understood they can't stay up for ever and a day the cost would be prohibitive, like I said there may be an answer just let us explore it and speak to the BOD's.
But they will not be on youTUBE (at least my copy won't be)for free it devalues the product people are paying money out to see.

This seems to be getting very complicated for something which, to be honest, is very simple. We do it all the time on Leighlife and I'd guess we have tons more stuff on there. We've been going for 10 years and nothing has ever been deleted. It doesn't cost a great deal of money either.
