It would be very funny if Leigh got a Pizza Express and Wigan didn't have one. They would have to change the way they serve them in Pie land. Who wants to eat an American Hot in a foil tray with a crust on? Errrr. On the Pie land Pizza Express menu it would have Meat and Prater pizza in foil tray and a crust. Just to comfuse them I would put at the side, "must be eaten with knife and fork". Headlines in Wigan Observer would be, " Pizza Express closes two weeks after opening due to stabbings in restaurant. A spokesman for the chain said it was like feeding animals. Following weeks of negotations Pizza Express have decided to re-open the restaurant but all Wigan customers must wear a rear fastening jacket with arm restraints and be hand fed. Road blocks are to be set up at Platt Waz, Hindley and Golbourne to stop Pie Eaters coming to Cosmopolitan Leigh and lowering the tone of our smarter, cleaner and more educationaly populated town.

a LOOM with a view , it all looks very good ,im all for expansion , about time to, nice to see the Cinema back in Leigh , many years ago i worked at the Odeon , in Leigh ,as Projectionist , it would be nice to see Paint your Wagon again or SAW , i prefer the deep thinking films as you can see, nothing like the Tears of a Clown.

I used to love going into the projection room of the cinemas. Fantastic pieces of equipment.

Tony , im talking about the old Style Projection cameras , where you heard the bell started up the second projection camera , and changed over after seeing the rings in the right hand corner of the film, happy days , i loved it at the Odeon,they even rewound the films by hand.

The Watcher thinks it is very very sad that the occupants of a once proud town like Leigh are getting worked up into a frenzy of excitement because a few fast food outlets are opening up soon. By God how low have we fallen in our standards, you are acting like a starving dog that has been thrown a few scraps of grizzle.
The cinema is a welcome but long overdue asset to the towns leisure facilities but more burger & pizza places are not exactly going to be serving quality fayre are they ?

Maurice agrees with the watcher, but Leyth has never been one for quality restaurants - you need to go to Manchester for those, although The Indian is decent, even Culcheth Fayre isn't a patch on Manchester but has always been an upgrade on Leigh.
Leyth has had its heart ripped out these past 25 years, maybe we can build on this development first thing to do is ban chavs from the area.

I remember the Odeon being a rear projection screen, and when walking the Town Centre on a 2 - 10pm shift if it rained I used to go in the back door and stand on the stage and watch the film, I saw many a film backwards
