| Quote SaBadSel="SaBadSel"Flute song alternate
When i was young i had some sense
I bought a flute for twenty pense
The only tune that i could play
was we are Leigh Rugby
And we're here to stay
nananana Leigh etc...'"
Surely the point is to move away from The Flute Song.........whenever anyone tried to sing your version, the 'lunatic fringe' would sing the old lyrics, and we'd be back to square one - painted in a bad light by opposition fans, and the RFL!!
I've kind of lost touch with 'The Hit Parade' these days!! (Radio5 or Radio Manchester when I'm in the car most of the time!) Is there not some catchy, anthemic song currently riding high in the charts that could be adapted?? I suppose the real trick is to find a tune that no other fans use, and make it synonymous (sp?) with Leigh.

| The problem with all theses suggestions (Except the Small Faces one) is that we're not creating a unique club anthem there, we're just nicking someone elses idea.
Chumbawumba's 'Tubthumping' seems appropriate to me at the moment.

| How about "On top of the world" by The Carpenters
We're on the top of the world
Now we've escaped relegation
And the only explanation I can find
Is the coach we've found
And a stonking great "new" ground
And it's put us on top of the world..
Apologies to the late Karen C...

 Silly Billy
I put the words on so that someone could adapt a section of the song and add it to the ready made chorus / chant.

Just one BIG flaw with these lyrics - we are NOT here to stay - we are here to GO UP
